Ellie Reporting on the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy

Wednesday Morning October 31

End Time Insert: This morning I watched the news - floods, fires, power outages, gas leaks, and more ... so sad. I had not seen such destruction to New York City since 9/11. And then I remembered ... 9/11 was a marker on the consciousness grid ... an end time insert ... Hurricane Sandy is another. A new insert in the program means life will never be the same, and as all things are connected, this is global. 11 years ago, the events of 9/11 changed the face of everything ... forever. The same applies now but on a grander scale, a higher harmonic.

Economy: Today, the New York Stock Exchange reopened for regular trading after being shut down for two days because of the hurricane. The world is used to seeing the financial markets through the lens of the floor of New York Stock Exchange. It gives them a sense of comfort, but as we have learned, the old comfort zones are forever changing, evolving into something else. The addiction to watching the daily changes in the global stock markets will return with added enthusiasm today, as the players in the US have not had their fix since last Friday. Imagine that ....

Airports: Kennedy and Newark airports reopened today, their closures also affecting global business. Deserted airports will once again be filled with the energies of travelers and the everyday dramas of getting through security ... perhaps sharing their stories about Sandy with a total stranger while waiting for their flight to board.

Broadway: New York's iconic Broadway theatre district will also reopen today, with performers trying to lift the spirits of those who can get to the theaters.

Trick or Treat .... Today is Halloween as children, home from school, try to have fun, some making it their activities for the day. In 2011, the northeast was hit by a major snowstorm, children wearing boots and heavy jackets over their costumes.

Tuesday Morning October 30

Last night at 8pm, I received a call from Con Edison about a possible power outage in my area. I had already shut down my computer and was in bed talking to my children on the phone. Today I learned that Nikki and her family in CT. survived the storm with no damage or power outages, though many of her local friends were not as lucky. My daughter Zsia in northern NJ experienced a power outage, fallen trees, but no flooding or damage to her home or property. The devastation is indescribable and will remain dangerous for a long time.

The wind must have been at its peak at that time as the building swayed slightly, the sound of rain and Halloween-style creaking noises heard. Trick or treat? Do you have to ask this year? 1991 The Perfect Storm also known as the Halloween Nor'easter of 1991

I turned on my White Noise machine, closed my eyes, and looked at Z. He showed me the extent of the storm and closure. Then he showed me the silver foil balloon, shaped like a candy lifesaver, that had flown by earlier in the afternoon - guided by him. Z smiled and I felt reassured about the safety of my physical body here - instantly falling asleep to join him on the other side where I remained for 10 hours in linear time. Were we busy there? One would suppose so ... but truth be known ... everything's complete. Tick tock in 3D.

On that note ... don't forget that Sunday at 2am the clocks move backwards one hour. It's all about linear time and our perceptions within it.

The worst of the storm is over but there is more - rivers cresting as epic flood stories continue. A small tsunami could not have done more damage to many coastal areas. The amount of time and money needed for restoration and recovery is astronomical. So much loss. The magnitude of the storm is unprecedented. You can find lots of news, photos and videos online sent by people who experienced events first hand. Hurricane Sandy   Wikipedia

This storm will affect the economy, environment, and the US presidential election next Tuesday, as Mercury Retrograde adds to the drama.

It is also important to keep an eye on the west coast - the Queen Charlotte Fault where powerful earthquake activity continues. The Queen Charlotte Fault is an active transform fault, located between the North American Plate and the Pacific Plate, Canada's equivalent of the San Andreas Fault. It's all connected. On Sunday a 7.7 earthquake along this fault caused a small tsunami in Hawaii. Remember that the Pacific Ring of Fire is the major target for closure. Never forget these are end times and you are projected illusion in a hologram - about to return to light.

6:00pm

It was business as usual for me today with clients and end-of-month things to do.

In the afternoon I drove through Bay Ridge curious about the aftermath of the storm in my area. There are downed trees, torn away awnings and roof damage, but luckily no power outages, fires, gas leaks, or looting found in other places hit by the storm. Today people shared stories about Sandy while trying to make sense of the current destruction.

I spoke with my friend Anna who lives in the next building and has a similar view of the bridge. She also saw the silver foil balloon as it swept passed my window yesterday ... and wondered about it. Anna described watching the awning of my building flapping in the wind then flying away in one final gust. It must have looked like a bat out of hell.

People heard unusual tones coming from the Verrazano Bridge Monday night

as the wind swept across the cables ... the arches acting like giant tuning forks. It's all code.

Many believe the storm is part of a conspiracy theory and in a way they are right - created by the hologram.

Coney Island: Whenever I open the portal to time travel and Coney island, someone always calls me from that energy grid. Today, after 7 years, my friend Chelsea called to see how things were going. Chelsea lives in San Diego and has been on my mind since planning my trip there. We talked about time travel, physical alien presence on the planet soon, Mars and Moon bases, conspiracy theories, whistle blowers ... you know ... girl talk. These topics used to be of interest, but as we come to closure, they just seem like more recycled stuff in the program ... everything but time travel that is. Chelsea, as with all other teachers, healers, and energy workers, has one goal - to help people remember. If time permits, we will meet in San Diego.

Ellie Reporting on Hurricane Sandy from Brooklyn

Tuesday 6:00 pm

It was business as usual in my area with clients and end-of-month things to do. I drove through Bay Ridge this afternoon to see the destruction which is the same as reported in most reported areas, minus the flooding. People shared Sandy stories and made plans about life while trying to find a reason for the destruction. I spoke with my friend Anna, who lives in the next building and has a similar view of the bridge. She also saw the silver foil balloon as it swept passed my window yesterday ... and wondered about it. Many believe the storm is part of a conspiracy theory and in a way they are right - created by the hologram. The energies now shift to closure in another way. Whenever I open the portal to time travel and Coney island, someone always calls me from that energy grid. Today, after 7 years, my friend Chelsea called to see how things were going. Chelsea lives in San Diego and has been on my mind, since planning my trip there. Like many other teachers, she is part of a weekend workshop linked to 12/12/12. Many people have sent me messages about gatherings on the weekend I return from CA. but that energy does not resonate for me now. We talked about time travel, a physical alien presence on the planet soon, Mars and Moon bases, conspiracy theories, and all things related. These topics used to be of interest, but as we come to closure, they just seem like more recycled stuff in the program. Chelsea, as with all other teachers, healers, and energy workers, has one goal - to help people remember. If time permits, we will meet in San Diego.

Tuesday 7:00 am

At 8:00pm, Monday night, I received a call from Con Ed about a possible power outage in my area. I had already shut down my computer and was in bed talking to my children who had experienced short term power outages in CT. and NJ. I also connected with George who lives in Manhattan - which was rocking and rolling - and we both felt safe.

The wind must have been at its peak at that time as the building swayed slightly, the sound of rain and Halloween-style creaking noises heard. Trick or treat? Do you have to ask this year? 1991 The Perfect Storm also known as the Halloween Nor'easter of 1991

Reporting from Zone C

The Moment of Truth ... Ellie Reporting on Hurricane Sandy from Zone C

11:30am Brooklyn update: Rain and wind - nothing interesting yet, as it is too early - the weather man just reporting that winds will be gusting at 50mph in 6 hours. George sent this about the upcoming Mercury retrograde election. "Think about this -- if millions of people lose power for over a week and can't use the electronic voting machines, how does that affect the outcome of the election? Will elections be postponed?" I actually just watched a small boat race by on the water ... seriously... Hopefully it was coast guard or like that. My day so far ... I was up at 6am and decided to make it a "Twilight" marathon day. So far, I watched parts 1-3 with part 4 coming up after this break, or as long as Time Warner and Con Ed are still working. Back later ... I have a wedding to attend ...

6:30am - Brooklyn is calm before the storm. The city is basically deserted and at a standstill, mass transportation shut down. The only thing one hears are the winds gusting up and the occasional sounds of emergency vehicles on the street below. We are braced and ready .... watching the news and following the storm as if an apocalyptic movie. This is a complicated storm with many facets to it, so anything goes.

Hurricanes, earthquakes, and a
tsunami, oh my ....

The Wizard of OZ could not have created more dramatic events in Dorothy's dream ... or in the illusion of our reality.

Full Moon, End Times Scenarios playing out, events that make no sense ... Scorpio is indeed rising. I knew Scorpio would not disappoint. As blogged before - Scorpio and Taurus (current full moon) are Egypt where it all began (pyramid) and now comes full circle. They came in ships from Orion and Sirius ... Remember that George?

These are among the final precursors, so brace for impact.

Mercury Retrograde begins November 6 at 4° Sagittarius - on Election Day. Earth changes are already affecting the outcome.

Here in the northeast, this is the calm before the megastorm whose change of course is baffling experts as it prepares to move perpendicular to the New Jersey and New York coastlines, as if it has a mind of its own. I feel safe here on higher ground, but this is going to be very bad. This blog will be down if power is lost in my area (Con Edison if you're tracking) or Time Warner Cable is down. I'm as prepared as I can be. I can stay here without heat or air conditioning, have water, food, etc. for a few days, have a portable radio, my iPad (AT&T), cell phone (Sprint) with extra battery, landline (Verizon) with cord and cordless phones, my wash is done - as we brace for impact. I'll have a bird's-eye view of the ocean, from on high. I hope Con Ed has limited damage.

Ironically, the crown (chakra metaphor) on the Statue of Liberty, here in the harbor, was supposed to open to tourists Sunday after a year-long renovation, but that has been cancelled. Let's see what the storm does to this iconic symbol. In films, she is submerged in water, tumbled over into the sand, or surrounded in ice at the end - all metaphors. We are living out flood stories.

Saturday, I told my friends that I see a major earthquake and possible tsunami in the Pacific Ring of Fire now.

George remarked, "That would be a double whammy!"

But that is what I saw.

This morning I woke up to this:

The Key Part II - Ellie Finds the Key   Mystery, Music, Magic

On the matter of Messages and Keys ... Since this all began on October 14, 2012, this is what I have pieced together as personal messages to me.

My metal keychain was given to me 33 years ago by my daughter's friend Dawn, whose birthday happens to be October 14th. The Key has to do with birthdays and rebirth.

Ellie and Diana 1951

Since October 14, I keep seeing the image of my childhood classmate Diana, in Coney Island, when we took this picture in front of our school, P.S. 80 on West 17 Street (more 8's). I was too busy to look for this picture, still it repeated in my consciousness until I found it today.

3022 West 22 Street in Coney Island

Saturday, October 27 -- Today is my daughter Zsia's birthday. I woke up dreaming about a metal skate key, which seemed very important. It was time to look at my childhood photo album where I found this photo of me wearing my skates, next to the photo of Diana and I. On the back of the photo my mother wrote, Elinor's 8th birthday, February 17, 1951. On that birthday, I entered an 8 Year. (2+17+1951) = 8. The old building looks like it has a series of verticals Z's on either side of the door, as if mirror images of each other, which remain to this day. I would have to go back to see if there are 8 Z's. The building was owned by a man named Mr. Wade. A few months ago, George and I parked in front of the building and got the strangest stirrings.

I searched the address and found this image so there are probably 8 Z's.

George and Ellie's Coney Island "Fringe" Experience February 11, 2009

My best friend growing up in Coney Island, was Susan Alexrod, whose initials are SA as in "Sarah and Alexander". Her family moved away a few months before mine did, so I have no idea what happened to her. Susan has strangely become a "messenger" to me in recent years appearing initially as a thought or in a dream just before another key to my destiny is given. I used to see her as she was in a photo I have of her, but now she has become animated, though still looking like a child. "Sarah and Alexander" ends with a rebirth into light.

Something about all of this speaks to me about the closure of the program, and grows more powerful each day. I await the next key. For now ... to quote William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) on "Fringe" ... a storm is coming ... and it could hit Coney Island very hard.. I have yet to watch the "Fringe" episode that aired last night. To be continued ...

Earth Changes

Flood stories in end times ...
"Frankenstorm" is on the move - making the news big time as people brace for impact.
A major concern is always power outages. You can track the storm on the news and internet.

NOAA to East: Beware of coming 'Frankenstorm'   Yahoo - October 25, 2012

An unusual nasty mix of a hurricane and a winter storm that forecasters are now calling "Frankenstorm" is likely to blast most of the East Coast next week, focusing the worst of its weather mayhem around New York City and New Jersey. Government forecasters on Thursday upped the odds of a major weather mess, now saying there's a 90 percent chance that the East will get steady gale-force winds, heavy rain, flooding and maybe snow starting Sunday and stretching past Halloween on Wednesday.

The Full Moon 6° Taurus October 29 could result in high tide coastal flooding early next week.

Earthquakes

One dead as 5.3 magnitude earthquake hits southern Italy   Telegraph.co.uk - October 26, 2012

One person has died and buildings were damaged after a powerful, 5.3 magnitude earthquake hit southern Italy in the middle of the night on Friday. The quake struck the province of Cosenza in the southern region of Calabria in Italy at 3.15am (0115 GMT).

Speaking of earthquakes and Italians ...

Wednesday, when I was reading Clara from Italy, I suddenly felt the room shake and grabbed the arms of my chair.

"Did you feel that?" I asked.

"Feel what?" Clara replied.

"The Earthquake!"

Clara felt nothing - yet it was so real to me. Maybe I felt the earthquake in Italy on Friday.

Key Story II

Wednesday October 24, 2012

On October 14, I wrote a blog called The Key about my wild adventures with missing keys that day. Today, something far more bizarre happened.

I like to vacuum my carpet every day, unless too busy. I have a thick carpet and love the way it looks and feels after it is vacuumed. On this day, I vacuumed in the morning, then went about my business.

At 3:00, I prepared my table for my clients - both from Italy - Pamela, from Rome (30, fashion industry) who was here visiting her friend Clara, 28, who lives in the city, having moved here from Milan in 2010.

Standing beside the table, my toes made contact with something metal in the carpet. I knelt down and retrieved the key in the photos below. Studying the key, I pondered yet another key mystery. The key clearly could not belong to anyone who visited this week, or it would have gotten caught up in the vacuum this morning ... or yesterday morning, and no one called about it.

At that moment, the clients rang the doorbell and entered the apartment as I stood there holding the key. Coming from Rome, Pamela immediately recognized who was on the key - Anthony of Padua ... And so we went to Wikipedia. I nearly fainted when we read his description. "St. Anthony is venerated all over the world as the Patron Saint for lost articles, and is credited with many miracles involving lost people, lost things and even lost spiritual goods." What are the odds of me reading a client, visiting from Rome, just after finding the key?

The clients used my camera to take a few pictures to post here. What is so interesting is the key is silver in most lights, with a bronze edge, but when you look at it, in the Wikipedia image, it appears gold, as in alchemy. Yes, I know it is the light reflecting, yet a truth is being shown to me.

Just noticed ... the hands on the clock behind me are both on 3 - 33 or Christ Consciousness.

33 is associated with the Freemasons mentioned in this blog - October 2004 ("8" years ago).

I took 3 consecutive pictures of the back of the key

and this is what I got.

Light refraction yes, but a message as well.

The back features what could be a Roman Aqueduct above.

Now for the fun stuff ...

Moving along to the Astronomy Picture of the Day - I found a new nebula to add to my growing collection on Crystalinks' Nebula File (search "Other Nebulae" on the file). As I posted the new nebula image, I looked at the nebula just above it. May the saints preserve us ... it was the Keyhole Nebula. After a big laugh I searched google images for the Keyhole Nebula and found ... (Ellie still laughing) ...

In the image below ... the Keyhole Nebula is on the left and is part of the Eta Carina Nebula.

It looks like the hand of god pulling humanity to safety.

Missing Children

When you live in the city, you learn the rules of safety and survival, carried with you as your move through life. Just over the bridge in the suburbs of New Jersey, where many NYC dwellers moved for safety reasons, we find a rash of child lurings, kidnappings, and even the murder of a 12 year old girl.

Halloween is often scary to children ... and it just got scarier this year in NJ. With Halloween just one week away we find this story. N.J. Towns To Impose Halloween Curfew In Wake Of Luring Attempts   NBC - October 24, 2012

The problem of missing children is complex and multifaceted. Children may become missing due to abduction by nonfamily members or abduction by family members. Children may be missing as a result of running away from home. Children may also be missing involuntarily for reasons other than abduction, due to becoming lost, injured or otherwise missing to their parents or guardians.

An estimated 800,000 children younger than 18 are missing each year, or an average of 2,200 children reported missing each day. More than 200,000 children were were abducted by family members. More than 58,000 children were abducted by nonfamily members. 115 children were the victims of "stereotypical" kidnapping. These crimes involve someone the child does not know or a slight acquaintance who holds the child overnight, transports the child 50 miles or more, kills the child, demands ransom, or intends to keep the child permanently.

Final Copy

In March 2003, the first edition of 2012 Sarah and Alexander was published followed by my completion of the screenplay. Through the years, many people tried to help me get the screenplay produced, the most memorable, a man who became a close friend in the end, Steve Crawford who worked in Hollywood in the CBS newsroom. Steve never missed one of my blogs and totally understood the nature of reality and where it is all going. He had a heart of gold and laughed when I told him he reminded me of a lion. Sadly, we never had the opportunity to meet.

Steve was never into substance abuse or any of the other things people do to reach higher states of consciousness - not necessary once you understand the holographic nature of our reality. Once you get it, you just live out your programming, until the end, knowing it's all an illusion.

Candy and Steve May 2012

Steve and I lost touch from 2007-2012. This spring, I received payment for a reading from a woman out in Hollywood named Candy, mentioning Steve Crawford. I immediately called to set up an appointment and discovered that Steve had Stage 4 esophageal cancer. Candy and Steve met through Match.com, discovering that they both worked at CBS in different buildings. They were coming to retirement age, had married that month and were so happy. How could this happen at such a special time in their lives when their hearts were so filled with love?

For months after we reconnected, the three of us talked every Monday at 2pm Eastern, until Steve became too weak to talk, often listening to Candy and I as we discussed life. Steve chose to tell no one about his condition except Candy and I, our weekly conversations meaning everything to him.

We talked about Ralph, my ex-husband who died from Stage 4 esophageal cancer in November 2005 - laughing about Ralph's visits with the family and the continuity of life after physical death. Like Ralph, Steve knew that Stage 4 esophageal cancer is a death sentence, choosing not to have treatment, just to embrace what time remained. He was not afraid to die, but hated to leave Candy. We found another parallel with Ralph in that he too had met someone special, 4 years before he died.

As with the passing of my best friend Louise, 12 years ago, we all embraced the truth about reality, making the transition so much easier. It has nothing to do with gods, aliens, karma, or any other myths we are led to believe, just the program saying "Your time is up, but before you go, you will find love ... then light." That is all there is.

In recent months, Steve and I experienced shared dreams about the closure of the program, which we both knew is imminent, though we knew he would leave this reality before the programmed closed. On the matter of metaphysics, Steve shared the journey, much like you and I did, on the road to final awareness.

Today, Steve is beside me, much like Z when I blog. His smile suggests we are at the end of ACT III. I am sure Steve and I will share a few more adventures before it's over and I welcome him guiding my journey with Z until the end.

The black cat photo and story below have significance for us.

Steve Crawford Passed Away
By Candy Crawford, wife

Steve Crawford, News Assignment Editor at KCBS-TV, passed away at 8:15pm Sunday night on Oct. 7. He was 64 year old. Together, we decided he finally needed hospice care because his condition had deteriorated. On Sunday, I had friends help me move furniture around to accommodate the hospital bed. As I was juggling all the equipment deliveries, Steve started having respiratory problems. The hospice company sent nurses to the house twice, but his breathing became more labored. Finally, he had some relief and we were alone at last after a hectic day.

I left his side for just 5 minutes to go empty the trash. When I came back, I was relieved to hear he was no longer gasping for air. I thought to myself how wonderful the meds were in alleviating his symptoms. But when I felt his forehead, I could tell something was seriously wrong. He was so very still and he had already started to grow cold.

The nurse later told me he was probably just waiting for me to leave the room so he could slip away quietly by himself. We all know how fiercely independent and private he was. He spared me the anguish of seeing him die in my arms.

Now I can tell all his friends and co-workers that on May 2 he was diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer that had metastasized throughout the lymph system. He chose not to undergo chemo because it would have been a tortuous yet unproductive procedure. It may have let him live a few weeks longer, but he would have sacrificed the quality of his last few months of life.

We chose to celebrate every day we had with each other and treasure the precious gift of being alive. On May 30, we were married after being together for three years. We met on Match.com. I was a post-production video editor at CBS TV City for twenty years before retiring last year.

After 35 years with KCBS, Steve chose to continue working for three more weeks after his diagnosis. The doctor told him he had only three to six more months to live. His last day of work was May 23. Steve tried to sneak out of the building without saying goodbye to anyone. He was adamant that no one should know what was wrong with him, that no one knew he had cancer. He simply didn't want anyone to have pity or feel sorry for him. He was hard-nosed and stoic until the end.

But Rod Foster must have known something was up because he ran out to the parking garage to express some last-minute kind wishes to him. Steve still had tears in his eyes when he arrived at our home in Los Feliz. He was so touched by Rod's caring thoughtfulness. That was also his very last trip on his beloved Harley.

Because the primary tumor had grown so large, Steve had a stint put in to allow an open passageway from his esophagus to his stomach. Soon, all he could ingest was Ensure, water and pills. He went from 165 to 122 pounds.

Steve was deeply spiritual, but not religious in a traditional way. So I envision a joyous celebration of Steve's life in an informal setting with food and drink and newsroom war stories.

He didn't tolerate the brainless, but during the writer's strike he would laugh his beard off at the sight of a secretary from the second floor on her knees looking for some connection when the AP WIRE went down! The writer's strike also brought great moments with the infamous "Flying V" and crews that suddenly did the speed limit so the striking writers could be right there.

He saw a lot romances come and go. From anchors smooching and fighting to a virtual Peyton Place of inner office dating. In one case, when I was dating a desk assistant (remember folks this is LES saying this) he made sure that the morning after we broke up, we were stuck together in the field for days on in. He had a VERY perverse sense of humor...

He and Rod were my original advocates to shoot features with a young reporter named Steve. He cracked up at those stories and whatever Dorothy Lucey and I could put together, with "information breaks" in the middle. This from the hardest news guy ever...but he still respected a well crafted feature.

But he surely bemoaned the Paris Hiltonization of local news. The North Hollywood Bank shootout, the Menendez Brothers, and the Michael Jackson death were stories that were pure Steve at his rocking best.

In '89 San Francisco had the Loma Prieta quake, known as the "World Series Quake". Every photographer is lining up in the News Director's office to go. Except me. Steve saw me and knew something was up and wondered why I wasn't hustling to go. He looks at me and says, "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaait a minute...the Stones and Guns N' Roses are playing all weekend at the Rosebowl, aren't they?" They were, and my fellow rocker friend kept me working locally...great shows, by the way!

Speaking of quakes, one of the best moments was when, on January 17 1994, the Northridge quake nailed us all with a 6.7 at 4:30 in the morning. Working nonstop for days after, we were all on vapors and my eyes were so tired I started seeing double. I had to go to the Doctor's, but Steve thought I should buy a Playboy as long as I was seeing double.

Absolutely a big part of a team effort...and he was riding the news wave making sure those of us in the field had a solid, steady source of where to go and what was needed. You never realized how great he was at it until you had to rely on a newbie know-it-all intern. Heaven help us.

Steve, through it all, was the Great and Powerful Oz. He was the man behind the curtain, pulling strings and making things happen. He was my Thomas Brothers navigator at all times...I could get lost in a walk in closet and he never made fun of me...and was always there for me.

When I lost both of my folks three months apart he and Rod were among the first to welcome me back. My mom died of breast cancer, so he made sure I had weeks of cancer stories after that so I would know that folks are fighting the fight.

Steve and I were never sports fans of the normal guy variety. But he and Eloy Sedillo were always my rock and roll soul mates. We would talk for hours/days/months about music that really was NO bs and just rocked the house. Steve knew Courtney Love was not a paparazzi joke but a serious rocker. We chatted about the rise of No Doubt in one moment and favorite Hendrix tunes in the next. We talked about Steppenwolf and Ozzy and the Stones, oh my.

Did you guys ever try talking to him when he was on that Harley in the Columbia Square parking lot? I mean, he slaved all day at the desk...juggling the day's news...and finally he was free on that bike. You would try to chat with him and he would just rev the pipes to deafening volumes and say "WHAT? WHAT? WHAT?" as he drove off. Then you could see his lips move and nothing would come out, just to piss ya off a bit...he was off on his chrome horse and in heaven.

OK, so he looked at times like Charles Manson's better looking brother but always had the heart of Jimmy Stewart. You could say he had a heart of gold, and he did, but I always imagined it more of shiny well-chromed ticker. With a leather tassel trim.

In an era where we know way too much about the Kardashians, we simply didn't know enough about Steve. He was born in Indiana...a Hoosier on a Harley...who knew? He came to LA in '68 and did odd jobs like making frames for Aaron Brothers. I am still trying to get my head around that! He had a 40 year marriage but would joke that it was the best 6 months of his life. Then he met sweet Candy on match.com. After being together for three years, Steve and Candy married May 30...4 weeks to the day after being diagnosed with cancer. We never knew, and that pissed us off.

Although he was under the care of an oncologist at Cedar Sinai, it was such a typical Steve decision to not undergo chemotherapy treatments. The cancer had just spread throughout his entire lymph system. But he wasn't alone, Candy was with him. And THAT gives us all comfort that if we couldn't be there for him, Candy could.

And he is now in heaven...looking down on us on a giant leather cloud with tassels. And he is shooting a big giant MIDDLE FINGER. Those late summer lightening bolts are gonna have more punch. And the thunder may sound like Harley pipes.

So here's the deal...when someone flips you the bird in your next traffic jam on the 405, laugh and give them a thumbs up and think of Steve. It will freak them out. When you hear Hendrix at max volume through your apartment walls, it's just Steve keeping it real. And when a Harley flies past you on a stuck freeway, enjoy the moment. Bet he is really a nice guy, with a heart of chrome.

A Tribute to Steve Crawford By Jennifer Pierce, Executive Producer, KCBS/KCAL News

Steve Crawford was one of the most unlikely and unforgettable Newsmen you could ever meet. He rode the assignment desk like he did his Harley--with gravel rumbling in his voice and a GPS of Southern California tattooed to his brain. Underneath that gruff, biker exterior was a man who would not rest until the story was right. His loss Sunday to esophageal cancer has hit hard for his friends, family, and the KCBS/KCAL newsroom.

Steve was born in Frankfort, Indiana May 24, 1949. After spending time at Ball State, he hopped on his Harley for LA where he would begin his nearly 35-year career on the KCBS Assignment Desk in 1978. He steered crews and reporters through some of the biggest stories to hit the area, such as the O.J. Simpson Trial, North Hollywood Bank Shootout, the Northridge Earthquake, and the Michael Jackson Funeral.

If it happened in LA in the last 35 years, Steve Crawford was more than likely on the desk, scanners cranked up, feeding reporters his vast knowledge of Southern California. He was passionate about the work done by members of our local police and fire departments, making sure they got the credit they deserved.

He took care of his own crews and reporters with that same passion. Reporter Dave Lopez says, "Crawford was one of the finest Deskmen I have ever worked with. He was a no-nonsense individual who took his work seriously and was very aware of how he treated people."

Connie Chung said she had the fortune to work with Steve when she anchored for channel 2. "He'd work the late night shift and when I was done doing the 11pm, we'd talk and talk. He had a deep, deep voice and a cynical laugh. I'd try to make him smile and chuckle-thrilled when he did-because he could be quite stoic. He was calm and deliberate-never silly, never catching a catnap, despite the grueling hours. I loved spending the wee hours with him, not want- ing to go home! I will dearly miss him but am delighted to know he had a loving wife."

Judd McIlvain wrote about the gesture that Crawford was famous for in the newsroom, "I got one of those fingers when I would have to ask for a Crew for a half-day stake out that might not come up with anything. He came across as the strongest Assignment Editor I have ever worked with, but you knew he was a real nice guy and he had your back."

Steve Crawford and his wife Candy lived in Los Feliz where he turned their backyard into a gardener's paradise. He died at home 5 months after he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. He led a fiercely independent and private life and left this world the same way, keeping his cancer struggle to himself, leaning only on his wife, not wanting to upset his friends and co-workers.

As Photographer Les Rose said Steve was, "Going it alone... But he wasn't alone, Candy was with him. And THAT gives us all comfort."

Dear Ellie:

I enclosed a photo of Billy, the feral cat who chose to come live with us. Steve and I both fell in love with him. We started feeding him at the end of July. Slowly but surely, he would let us pet him. Then he would come into the house to eat. Finally, the Thursday before Steve died, I was able to get him into a cat carrier and take him to the vet to get him fixed. That evening when he came home, Steve could finally hold and pet Billy.

We agreed that Steve would come visit me once he passed away through Billy. When I get lonely for Steve, I just pick Billy up and hug him. Steve said our little black cat would keep me company when he was gone.

That last day, Steve was having a really hard time breathing. The hospice nurses kept telling me to give Steve more morphine because that would help the breathing problems.

Finally, he seemed to be breathing better and was more relaxed. I went to the kitchen to get a drink of water and decided I needed to take out some garbage. It was the first break I had all day. I opened the back door and ran half way down the stairs when Billy went darting past me! Oh no, I forgot to close the door to keep him inside.

But Billy stopped at the bottom of the stairs and began looking at the sky, perfectly still. He was just gazing at the universe. I was able to scoop him up into my arms. I ran upstairs to tell Steve that I left the door open and Billy didn't run away. I was telling Steve the whole story when I noticed how quiet he was. Maybe the morphine had helped his breathing.

Then I noticed his eyes were open. I felt him, and he was so incredibly still. The Life Force had left his body and he was cool to the touch. I was only gone for less than three minutes. He died while I was gone!

I flashed on what they always do in the movies. So I started shaking him and telling him to wake up, to stay with me. But I realized that what had happened was the best thing. This was the whole reason we wanted hospice, in order to ease the transition to the end of life.

I sat on the bed holding Billy and stroking Steve's forehead. Finally, he was out of pain. We no longer had to wage our battle against the cancer. It was so incredibly peaceful and calm.

But why did he go when I left the room, I just couldn't understand. The hospice nurse told me Steve probably wanted to spare me the pain of watching him die in my arms. You know how fiercely private he was.

And as for Billy, when I thought about it, that magical moment when he gazed up at the heavens, the cat must have been watching Steve's soul soaring in to the skies. He'll come visit you soon, if he hasn't already.

Love,
Candy

P.S. Can't wait to meet at your class in Newport Beach on December 2. I know Steve will be there.

The Final Debate

I watched the first 20 minutes, called Ron and told him I felt Obama would win, then fell asleep. I woke up this morning, checked CNN, and smiled as if winning a game, yet knowing none of it matters.

Who Is The Most Stolen Artist
of All Time?

  Live Science - October 17, 2012

The burglars who orchestrated an ambitious heist on Oct. 16, 2012 at a Rotterdam museum in the Netherlands seem to have studious and expensive taste in art, but their taste in art theft shows a real lack of originality. Two of the masters whose work was targeted in the crime are among the most stolen ever, and one of them holds the top spot. The grab bag of mostly post-impressionist canvases the thieves made off with includes works by Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Paul Gauguin, Meyer de Haan and Lucian Freud.

Picasso, who is reputed to have said, "Good artists borrow, great artists steal," perhaps wouldn't have much grounds for complaining about the fact that a whopping 1,147 of his paintings have disappeared as of January of this year, making him the most stolen artist of all time, according to a list compiled by the Art Loss Register, an organization that helps track and recover stolen art around the world.

That list puts Matisse's stolen painting count at 205, not including Tuesday's developments. But since the Art Loss Register has already updated its database to reflect the Rotterdam rip-off, the thieves will likely have a very hard time netting the hundreds of millions the paintings could reportedly fetch at an above-board auction.

The artist who holds the No. 2 spot on the most stolen list is the relatively unknown American artist Nick Lawrence. Most of Lawrence's 557 missing paintings disappeared at the same time, just after they were moved without his consent to an unsecured shed because of a fire code violation.

The title for the most frequently stolen single major artwork seems to be contested. Guinness World Records gives it to Rembrandt's "Jacob de Gheyn III," which was stolen four times since 1966, surfacing once in a left-luggage office, once on the back of a bicycle, once under a graveyard bench and once in a taxi. The other candidate, the Ghent Altarpiece, or "Adoration of the Mystic Lamb," which was the joint work of the Flemish brothers Hubert and Jan van Eyck, was stolen seven times over six centuries, according to art historian Noah Charney's website.

Happy 40th !

My daughter Nikki turned 40 on October 19 (last Friday). Her husband, Ryan, and sons, Matthew and Noah, surprised her with a trip to Atlantis ... no ... not the mythological place but the famous Atlantis Bahamas Cove. There, they swam with the dolphins - something that stirs the souls of both adults and children. Along the way, they passed a store that only sells timepieces and thought it fitting that somewhere in Atlantis they found ...

SCORPIO

As we enter Scorpio, did anyone else feel a huge shift in the grid today? I'm not one who pays attention to grid shifts, but I definitely felt this one. What does it mean? As with all grid shifts - they affect some people aligned to their messages, but not others. I take it to mean a shift in my consciousness grid. Scorpio always does it for me. Remember that Saturn just moved into Scorpio and we have a Mercury Retrograde election two weeks away. Most people are not voting for a candidate but against the other choice.

October 22 - November 21, 2012

Put your cursor over the image, close your eyes, what do you see?

Scorpio is rising.

Happy Birthday to the Scorpio Readers.

"The Year of Faith" Begins

Pope names new saints including Native American   BBC - October 21, 2012
A Native American and six others have been named as saints by Pope Benedict XVI at the start of a new drive to deepen the faith of believers. The pontiff named the seven at a ceremony in St Peter's Square at the start of a "Year of Faith". As the sun rose over St Peter's Square on Sunday morning, Native American pilgrims in beaded and feathered headdresses sang songs to Kateri Tekakwitha.

Many Native Americans believe we exist in a dream or illusion,
soon to return to the stars or fifth world as the Blue Star Kachina returns.

Two Months 'Til Doomsday? Mayan Apocalypse Set for Dec. 21   Live Science - October 21, 2012
If you believe in that sort of thing, humanity can expect a mere two months left of existence before the Mayan apocalypse hits Dec. 21. Today (Oct. 21) starts the two-month countdown toward doomsday, according to an interpretation of the Mayan calendar that has taken hold in some New Age and spiritualist communities online. Two ancient texts confirm the end date of the Mayan Long Count calendar on the winter solstice of this year, which is Dec. 21, 2012. That day is the last day of the 13th bak'tun, or 144,000-day cycle, of the calendar. Ancient Maya would have seen the end of the 13th bak'tun as the end of a full cycle of creation.
