Second Eruption Occurs in Icelandic Volcano   Accuweather - August 31, 2014

Joan Rivers remains on life support. I met Joan once in the Catskill Mountains in the 1960's when she was performing at the Raleigh Hotel as was my husband Ralph. Joan came to me in a dream this morning and said she wanted to come back, could I help her? I told her I couldn't and in less than a second conveyed the nature of the hologram to her. She got it and did not seem unhappy - just 2 girls from Brooklyn hanging out.

Questions that stir souls now more that ever: "Why am I here?" "How can I help and heal in a large-scale way and make a living doing it?" "When is the hologram going to end?" One of Saturday's clients, a woman in her 50's who studies metaphysics and was born in Transylvania, dreamed she climbed to the top of a mountain to find the answers. When she got there everything faded to black.

The last of my summer TV series comes to an end this week. I can't wait for the fall season and the return of old favorites and perhaps something new. Most of the shows I watch on Prime Time and Cable were not nominated for an Emmy. Winners allow us to understand today's level of consciousness and the ridiculousness of humanity from comedy to tragedy. Add this to the emphasis on Reality TV - which is staged - and one does not have to search hard to understand why the world is so screwed up.

I hope you are enjoying Labor Day Weekend and taking a time-out from personal dramas among others.

Enjoy the Weekend

As summer comes to an unofficial end, some people reflect on their experiences over the past few months, while others are anxious to move ahead. There's school, relocations, jobs changes, climate adjustments, and more to consider. For many, the summer comes and goes too quickly, while, for others, Autumn is their season of choice. Amidst the chaos and dramas of the world, many people will be celebrating with friends and family as summer comes to an end as they prepare for the months ahead. Enjoy your time. The Starry Sky under Hollow Hill   NASA - August 30, 2014

Look up in New Zealand's Hollow Hill Cave and you might think you see a familiar starry sky. And that's exactly what Arachnocampa luminosa are counting on. Captured in this long exposure, the New Zealand glowworms scattered across the cave ceiling give it the inviting and open appearance of a clear, dark night sky filled with stars. Unsuspecting insects fooled into flying too far upwards get trapped in sticky snares the glowworms create and hang down to catch food. Of course professional astronomers wouldn't be so easily fooled, although that does look a lot like the Coalsack Nebula and Southern Cross at the upper left.

Ellie's Utah Adventures

It's awesome how my blogs connect to events in the world so quickly now. No sooner did I post the image of me above - about my Utah experiences and my friend Michelle - when she sent this email:

The premier of Stranger at the Pentagon is next Saturday. My son and I fly out Friday. We are hoping the short film gets an award at the Burbank Film Festival. Then we start generating funds to make it a full length movie. Fun stuff. :)

It's Friday in the city on another gorgeous day as people head out at the start of Labor Day Weekend, often called the last official weekend of summer. Enjoy your time wherever you are. I'll be here with friends, family and clients.

You think you know how things are going to turn out, but never forget the "element of surprise". It rules end times and the hologram.

Joan's experience will give her lots of material to joke about when she returns to work. I can hear her say, "I had a near death experience and met ....." "My life flashed before my eyes and ...." You finish it Joan. About that expression "Your life flashing in front of your eyes" - It refers to your projected experiences in the hologram that go by in a flash from our level of conscious awareness and processing - but the projections are actually happening in an instant. Somehow that correlates to the close of the hologram, but not sure yet. The projections slow down for us in 3D to experience the emotions of it all.

Joan Rivers 'resting comfortably' after health scare   BBC - August 29, 2014

My most popular client relationship theme for August was .... Women who dated married men, not just for sex, but to build a future, then in the 11th hour, as is most often the case, the husband returned to his family for any number of reasons. Relationships can be very disappointing. The bottom line is don't get involved with someone who is involved with somebody else. That person may want to leave their partner but at the end of the day there are no guarantees.

-

Here's a storybook romance with a happy ending ... Like most of the world, I love and admire Angie and Brad. This lady wound up with her then married man though Brad and Jennifer would not have lasted.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie married over the weekend in France, a representative for Jolie confirmed Thursday.   CNN - August 28, 2014
The couple, who are the parents of six children, have been together for almost a decade. They got married Saturday in a small, private ceremony in a chapel at Chateau Miraval in the village of Correns. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to co-star in 'By the Sea'.

Speaking of relationships ... When I first started Crystalinks 19 years ago, men used to email me all the time about being my soulmate and how we were going to take a metaphysical journey together ... blah ... blah ... blah ... At least they ask what my "sign" was ... or did they? I really felt that had more to do with my energies, than my appearance, or perhaps it was both. In any case, I never encouraged anybody and never got involved with men in the metaphysical arena. They generally have more dramas then mainstream men - too much searching and healing and cheating.

And so the years passed ... This year something interesting has happened. Men on Facebook have been emailing wanting to be in a romantic relationship. I find this all strange because it's not what I'm looking for. Further, you know I hate email, so when I ask them to talk on the phone, I never hear from them again. Am I being old fashioned when I want to "talk" to somebody? Okay ... wrong vibe for me. It would be nice to have a romance, but it has to be someone who understands what I'm about, is familiar with my work, and lives locally. Long distance relationships are too much work ... and money. I believe that with my access to the world, if there is someone out there for me, we'll find each other. Presently, I don't see him and 2015 in my "9" year. Did I really just type 2015?

-

Another interesting story ... I use a cassette recorder in all of my sessions when clients visit my home. I encourage clients to also record the session on their cell phones or other recording devices. Every once in a while a client will call me after they listen to the recording to share that they either heard a baby crying or laughing on the recoding. This is happened five times in the 30 years I've been doing readings. In each case the woman wanted to get pregnant so was elated when she conceived just after the reading. This month, a 22-year-old college senior came for reading. She is not ready for marriage or having a baby. She was very surprised to hear a baby laughing on her cell phone recording. What does it mean? My first response was - Use a condom! (giggle) It might also mean a baby is waiting to be born to her at sometime in the future as she is short (less than 5 feet) and very slim, which could cause a problem later, but her soul was reassuring her that she will have a child when the time is right.

The Pacific

The Pacific region may evoke your creative and spiritual energies with its tropical weather and
endless breathtaking views, but today we watch the changing face of the hologram highlighted there.

Life is about "riding the wave" which might be thrilling but always dangerous. Wednesday many young people were out surfing the waves in southern California ignoring warnings of rip tides and more. Some waves were 20 feet high. What sets them apart from tsunami waves? Tsunami waves do not resemble normal sea waves, because their wavelength is far longer. Rather than appearing as a breaking wave, a tsunami may instead initially resemble a rapidly rising tide, and for this reason they are often referred to as tidal waves. Read more ...

Pacific plate shrinking as it cools   Science Daily - August 28, 2014

The Pacific tectonic plate is not as rigid as scientists believe, according to new calculations. Scientists have determined that cooling of the lithosphere -- the outermost layer of Earth -- makes some sections of the Pacific plate contract horizontally at faster rates than others and cause the plate to deform. The tectonic plates that cover Earth's surface, including both land and seafloor, are in constant motion; they imperceptibly surf the viscous mantle below. Over time, the plates scrape against and collide into each other, forming mountains, trenches and other geological features. The new calculations showed the Pacific plate is pulling away from the North American plate a little more -- approximately 2 millimeters a year -- than the rigid-plate theory would account for, he said. Overall, the plate is moving northwest about 50 millimeters a year.

Mysterious Fissure Splits Ground in Mexico   Nature World - August 26, 2014
A Massive crack tore through more than a half-mile of ground in northern Mexico, according to numerous local reports. Now experts are struggling to explain what caused it and if it is a threat to public safety. The mysterious trench in question is up-to nearly 16 feet across at its thickets, and stretches for nearly half a mile according to Sky News, one of the first to report this unusual geological event. Hermosillo Sonora Mexico Emergency Management released footage taken by a drone flying over the perplexing crack while motorists remained stopped in their cars on either side of fissured roads as early as Wednesday. It is unclear when the earth was first broken, but residents of northern Mexico reported discovering the fissure earlier this week. Some local officials and experts alike are blaming seismic activity for the phenomenon, with a 5.0 magnitude earthquake occurring only earlier this month.

Dream of Escape

August 27, 2014

I had the strangest wake-up dream this morning perhaps triggered by: the TV series Under the Dome where this week the main characters found a way in and out of the dome that trapped them - or my mission to enlighten souls to the fact that we exist in an illusion that is about to end - or something else.

Here's what I remember ... I was taking a world tour with a large group of people. Somewhere in France, I came to the realization that something was wrong and we were trapped on the tour. No one believed me until little by little people tried to leave because they wanted to go home ... but were encouraged/enticed to stay with fancy restaurants and fine wine. Then, as more and more people wanted to go home, they realized they were trapped. People went postal ... their numbers growing from our group to others everywhere. As people figured how to get out, I woke up. Then I found this email from NASA ...

Milky Way over Yellowstone   NASA - August 27, 2014

The Milky Way was not created by an evaporating lake. The colorful pool of water, about 10 meters across, is known as Silex Spring and is located in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, USA. Illuminated artificially, the colors are caused by layers of bacteria that grow in the hot spring. Steam rises off the spring, heated by a magma chamber deep underneath known as the Yellowstone hotspot. Unrelated and far in the distance, the central band of our Milky Way Galaxy arches high overhead, a band lit by billions of stars. The above picture is a 16-image panorama taken late last month. If the Yellowstone hotspot causes another supervolcanic eruption as it did 640,000 years ago, a large part of North America would be affected.

Iceland volcano: Bardarbunga hit by 5.7 earthquake   BBC - August 26, 2014

Iceland's Bardarbunga volcano was hit by a magnitude 5.7 earthquake on Tuesday morning, the largest since tremors began in the area last week. The country's Met Office said despite the shock - the fourth magnitude five quake in 48 hours - there is still no sign of a volcanic eruption. On Sunday, Iceland lowered the aviation risk to its second highest level. Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano erupted in 2010, producing ash that disrupted air travel across Europe. Bardarbunga is in a different range to Eyjafjallajokull, but the intense seismic activity has raised fears that an eruption could cause similar travel chaos.

Krakatau Erupts

Krakatoa is a volcanic island situated in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. The name is also used for the surrounding island group comprising the remnants of a much larger island of three volcanic peaks which was obliterated in a cataclysmic 1883 eruption, unleashing huge tsunamis (killing more than 36,000 people) and destroying over two-thirds of the island. The explosion is considered to be the loudest sound ever heard in modern history, with reports of it being heard up to 3,000 miles (4,800 km) from its point of origin. The shock waves from the explosion were recorded on barographs around the globe. In 1927 a new island, Anak Krakatau, or "Child of Krakatoa", emerged from the caldera formed in 1883 and is the current location of eruptive activity.

Crystalinks Turns 19

If we're still here one year from today - with the ability to communicate online - that will indeed call for a major celebration. I have nothing planned - just taking one day at a time - but 20 years certainly would be a milestone for Crystalinks. Through the years I have seen metaphysical websites come and go - most gone - yet my passion with Crystalinks grows stronger every year. Whatever the algorithm for closing the program - you must feel it within your soul to see how close it is - for in truth, all is an illusion set in time. There is nothing beyond our consciousness experiences and the myth, math, and magic of it all.

Crystalinks has come a long way since 1995 in terms of quality, content and ease of presentation. It has developed into a compendium of thousands of integrated files and images for greater understanding - a portal readers can return to find answers within the parameters of healing and evolving consciousness. A transformation is occurring on all levels, coinciding with the Age of Science and Technology, which guides us along the way. Crystalinks remains a Work in Progress to that end, as does your journey here. We've had amazing adventures through these pages, the best, yet to come. Crystalinks has received recognition and won many awards over the past 19 years. Thank you for your continued support.

Mount Vesuvius erupts. The cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae are buried in volcanic ash. Very fine ash particles remain high in the atmosphere for years, spreading around the world by high-altitude winds. This suspended material contributes to often spectacular sunsets, as well as an optical phenomenon known as Bishop's Ring.

Wherever there is a problem and people's civil rights are violated - at home, in the legal system, in school, on the job, or anywhere else - you can expect to see people fighting for change. These are not isolated incidents that get pushed under the rug, but in end times, those energies continue to accelerate.

I see from the issues faced by my clients today, that frustrations, and the inability to deal with disappointments are more than most people can bear, especially those who put their hopes and dreams in a situation that falls apart and they are helpless to do anything about it. Whatever algorithm is set in place to close the hologram - feels like it's within reach.

One can be philosophical and say, "Well that's the way it's supposed to be," but that was then and this is now and usually someone didn't see the writing on the wall or understand the patterns of reality today. In Virgo Transition - many will be disappointed in love while on the flip side relationships will start anew as people look to nest for the winter. The inborn need to find someone to share your life, remains until the end.

People will go on searching and questing which is well and good if one understands the nature of today's reality. It's too much work to be dysfunctional and live in a dysfunctional relationship. This begs the question ... Can someone who is dysfunctional have, and maintain, a functional relationship? The answer is No. It goes against their programing for experience - it's sad but true.

Don't keep your head in the clouds or forget that it is all an illusion.

This looks like a scene from Burning Man (see below), but it's not.

It's just another illusion called ...

Brocken Spectre   NASA - August 23, 2014

The city of Veszprem, Hungary was only briefly haunted by this mysterious spectre. On the morning of August 11, its monstrous form hovered in the mist above municipal buildings near the town center. A clue to its true identity is offered by the photographer, though, who reports he took the picture from the top of a twenty story building with the rising Sun directly at his back. That special geometry suggests this is an example of an atmospheric phenomenon called the Glory or sometimes "the Spectre of the Brocken". Also seen from mountain tops and airplanes when looking opposite the Sun, the dramatic apparition is the observer's shadow on clouds or fog, the small droplets of water scattering light back towards the Sun through complex internal reflections. Careful night sky watchers can also encounter this spectre's analog in astronomy, a brightening of zodiacal light opposite the Sun known as the gegenschein.

Brocken Spectre appears when the sun shines from behind the observer, who is looking down from a ridge or peak into mist or fog. The light projects their shadow through the mist, often in a triangular shape due to perspective. The apparent magnification of size of the shadow is an optical illusion that occurs when the observer judges their shadow on relatively nearby clouds to be at the same distance as faraway land objects seen through gaps in the clouds, or when there are no reference points by which to judge its size. The shadow also falls on water droplets of varying distances from the eye, confusing depth perception. The ghost can appear to move (sometimes suddenly) because of the movement of the cloud layer and variations in density within the cloud.

The head of the figure is often surrounded by the glowing halo-like rings of a glory, rings of colored light that appear directly opposite the sun when sunlight is reflected by a cloud of uniformly-sized water droplets. The effect is caused by the refraction of visible light. A Brocken spectre (German Brockengespenst), also called Brocken bow or mountain spectre, is the apparently enormous and magnified shadow of an observer, cast upon the upper surfaces of clouds opposite the sun. The phenomenon can appear on any misty mountainside or cloud bank, or even from an aeroplane, but the frequent fogs and low-altitude accessibility of the Brocken, a peak in the Harz Mountains in Germany, have created a local legend from which the phenomenon draws its name. The Brocken spectre was observed and described by Johann Silberschlag in 1780, and has since been recorded often in literature about the region. However it can be seen in any mountain region. (The dubious term glockenspectre has also been used to refer to the phenomenon; however, there appears to be no reliable evidence of its accuracy.) Read more ... Read about The Glory

Brocken Spectre   Telegraph - October 10, 2010

A so-called Brocken Spectre is seen in the Tatra mountains in Zakopane, Poland. A Brocken Spectre is a rare optic phenomenon that can be observed in mountains when an observer standing on higher altitude can see his own shadow cast onto a cloud at a lower altitude below him. The head of the figure is often surrounded by rings of colored light. Among mountain climbers there is a superstition that a person who sees a Brocken Spectre will die in the mountains one day

End of Summer
There's lots going on

As the summer of 2014 winds down, people in the northeast can't help but comment on the amazing weather we've had. The summer TV season is coming to an end with many series ending in a cliffhanger, resuming early 2015 or next summer. People are enjoying last minute vacations before school officially starts, as we move into Virgo Transition on Saturday.

Virgo Transition

"Virgo Transition" marks the beginning and the end every year when the sun is in Virgo. This is the time the energies for everything change, highlighted with weather, education, jobs, businesses, relocations, relationships, health, society, the start of the new year in Numerology, and usually the start of the Jewish New Year ... a major energy shifter and generator. Sometimes the changes are guided by your soul. Other times they seem thrust upon you - like the sudden end of a relationship. It can be fun or scary, but there is no escaping change.

In Virgo Transition, students head off to universities and institutes of higher learning, to plan a future. Remember what I blog each year - don't major in anything that doesn't result in a way to earn money after you graduate. Art, music, film, and all the fun therapeutic majors we all embrace and enjoy, must also be combined with a practical side to life, as the economy and job hunting are not easy, and school is expensive. To the students: Do you think the economy will improve by the time you graduate? More to the point ... what do you see the world looking like on your graduation day?

Look around and see how your life, and those of others, has changed in Virgo Transition in the past ... from 9/11 to the 2008 recession that holds us in its grip ... and what you expect to happen now. I don't want this to be another blog about "getting rid of" ... but the hologram is setting up a new digital game board ... some exciting new apps ... so here we go.

The Roswell Rock and Crop Circle

August 15, 2014 - "In Search of Aliens" aired a segment called "The Roswell Rock" on H2 (History Channel). Giorgio Tsoukalos researched the alleged "Roswell Rock", found in 2004, to determine if it was indeed an alien artifact. Scientific testing lead one to believe it could be authentic.

The owner of the rock, Robert L. Ridge, believes he found something from the crash that was overlooked in 1947 because it was beyond the search zone. Linda Moulton Howe was interviewed by Giorgio about the pattern on the rock matching a 1996 crop formation which she believes was not created by humans.

Student Bodies

University:

If you or someone you know is starting university at this time, be sure they are majoring in a subject that will earn them money when they graduate. The cost of education is very high these days - many students taking student loans or parent sacrificing a lot to help the children. I know that young people are very much into creative arts such as art history, film and drama, writing, many of the liberal arts, and communications. There has to be an end-game with one's major. We are not living in the old days when you can graduate without a career and debts to be repaid. This is especially hard for those with emotional problems who would like to live their lives as free spirits ... traveling, learning, and somehow managing to survive.

Reunions

Saturday evening, I met up with three friends - Sherry, Pat, and Lorraine - from my old neighborhood in Manhattan Beach. Sherry and her family lived just across the street from me on Corbin Place. She told me something the strangest story. When hurricane Sandy overran much of Manhattan Beach and neighboring Brighton Beach - only Corbin Place - the block that separates the two neighborhoods - remained untouched, as if in another reality. Corbin Place runs all the way to the esplanade where torrents of water flooded everything that day - but for some inexplicable reason, diverted away from my former block. Sherry said the neighbors talked about it for days and no one had an explanation, especially as there was no seawall. She wondered if I had any idea, but I could say with certainty. :)

Sherry also shared about her grandson, Daniel Meersand who went to Hollywood and has had much success. His screenplay The Pyramid is scheduled to be released December 5, 2014, by 20th Century Fox. I remember meeting Daniel's mom, Wendy, in Sheepshead Bay a few years ago and her telling me about Daniel's life.

Sherry lived two doors down from Darren Aronofsky's grandma ... both families in my generation still living in Manhattan Beach. It's interesting that Darren's first successful screenplay was Pi when he was Daniel's age, 31 - and Daniel's screenplay is the Pyramid. Interesting energy came out of Corbin Place indeed.

Pat (Singer) and I worked on educational projects together back in the day and at 74 she still works and has esoteric interests.

They asked me to attend the The Annual Brighton Jubilee Festival Hosted by The Brighton Neighborhood Association. When I lived on Corbin Place, I used to walk over to the festival every year, but now with no parking in the area, I doubt I'll be going - we'll see. If it's another picture perfect day, I might just go. Below, Pat shares her story which gives you a look at Brighton Beach when I was a child and today with Russian influences.

Fate

Do you believe in Fate - which is actually programming within the hologram? Do you still process events as free will? Friday night on "Ancient Aliens," they mentioned the Egyptian God Shai, who I had never heard of. When I see names spelled like that, they always take me to Sarah and Alexander, so I decided to explore.

Meskhenet was the goddess of childbirth featured in the myths and legends of ancient Egypt. After a child was born, Meskhenet carried out her duty as a goddess of destiny and predetermined the life of the child. She is also depicted with her consort Shai - at the weighing of the souls.

Shai is the deification of the concept of "Fate" in Egyptian mythology. The role of Meskhenet in relation to destiny - and her association with Shai and Renenutet - is believed to be the basis for the ancient Greek goddesses The Three Fates (Moirae) the weavers of fate who determined when life began, when it ended, and all that happened in between.

Facial Symmetry
and
the Golden Ratio (Phi)

Everything in reality is created by mathematical design. Symmetry creates balance balance in the conscious mind - a computer that processes everything you experience through binary code. What does math have to do with beauty? Actually, a lot. Physical attraction depends on ratio. Our attraction to another person increases if it is symmetrical and in proportion.

Leonardo da Vinci's drawings of the human body emphasized its proportion. The ratio of the distances is the Golden Ratio or (Phi, Consciousness).

Why Is Symmetry So Sexy? It Has Nothing to Do with Health   Live Science - August 13, 2014
Facial symmetry is sexy, but perhaps not for the reasons scientists had long thought. Humans have such a strong preference for faces and bodies that are symmetrical that evolutionary psychologists and other researchers who study human behavior have long theorized that symmetry might be a signal of good health.

But now, a new study finds that facial symmetry is not linked with health, at least during early childhood. These findings call into question the assumption that people have a preference for symmetry in faces because it provides a cue to health during development.

Signal of health?

Despite the widespread assumption that symmetry might be a sign of good health, studies have turned up little evidence of a link between the two. A few small studies have linked facial asymmetry with some short-term health woes, like scratchy throats, but many others have found no links at all. However, those studies were generally small, relied on people to accurately report their own health and focused on participants' recent health.

In a new study, researchers examined 4,732 British 15- and 16-year-olds whose health had been tracked since birth as part of the United Kingdom's Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children. The researchers analyzed three-dimensional scans of teens' faces, looking for symmetry, and compared those findings to health measures including birth weight, childhood health problems, body mass index (BMI) and even IQ at age 8.

The results showed no links between health and facial symmetry. Asymmetry was not related to more childhood ailments, nor to a lower birth weight or higher BMI, Pound told Live Science. Low birth weight and high BMI have each been linked with numerous health problems.

There was a tiny correlation between greater symmetry and higher IQ, but the link accounted for less than 1 percent in the variation of IQs seen in the sample, Pound said. The weakness of the link makes it unlikely that facial symmetry has any real-world value in gauging someone's intelligence.

"Our results indicate that choosing a mate with a relatively symmetrical face would be a very inefficient method of selecting a relatively healthy or intelligent partner from the general population, especially with the availability of more obvious cues" to a person's health, said David Lawson, an evolutionary anthropologist at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and another researcher on the study.

Why symmetry matters

The findings raise the question: If people aren't attracted to symmetry because it provides useful information about the value of a potential mate, why do humans find symmetry so sexy?

One possibility, Pound said, is that people simply like symmetry in all things, from art to natural objects to faces. Another is that people overgeneralize their preference for symmetry. Serious genetic disorders or trauma could lead to major asymmetry, far more obvious than the asymmetries in the general population usually studied. In other words, people might subconsciously avoid minor asymmetries simply because they've evolved to avoid major ones.

Or, there could be more to the asymmetry question, said Daniel Kruger, an evolutionary psychologist at the University of Michigan who was not involved in the study. "Our psychology evolved long before we had modern medicine and public health, so how does this compare in terms of the health environment of non-modern populations and foraging environments, but also with the range of asymmetry?" Kruger said.

Ancient humans may have had a wider range of ailments, leading to more asymmetry than what exists in humans today, Kruger told Live Science. The new study should be repeated with tribal people who live more like early hunter-gatherers and are subject to some of the same challenges from diseases and parasites. For people who are arguing for the relevance of this fluctuating facial asymmetry, it is disappointing, but there are definitely some unanswered questions," he said.

Violence

The violence in Ferguson, Missouri mirrors the fight for freedom across the globe - persecuted people who can't take it anymore. You know we are programmed for abuse and violence, followed by recovery. As we come to the end of this story - freedom is the name of the game. The world is going crazy. In the United States suicide levels are up, not to mention mass shootings by those out of control. Alcoholism is up and promoting weed and other recreational substances is growing. Erupting violence and the relations between police and African-American communities take me back to the 1960's. I always knew the day would come when race riots would happen, but I never saw Missouri - more like Wash. DC, Los Angeles, or another major city. Riots generally happen in the heat of the summer when people "lose it." We can't keep going the way we are as a race. Stay tuned for more on this story on any news service. Also stay tuned for the final "wrap/rap" on this reality.

The God Particle, or Higgs Boson, was discovered July 4, 2012 which some say was the real message left by the Mayans as we emerge into an Age of Enlightenment or out of physical reality. That happens to be the date my book 2012 Sarah and Alexander ends and Sarah and Alexander move into light. Coincidence? I think not! It's all in the grids.

Flooding of the Nile

The annual flooding cycle of the Nile goes back to ancient times. It is celebrated by Egyptians beginning August 15 lasting two weeks, known as Wafaa El-Nil. Were it not for the Nile River, Egyptian civilization could not have developed, as it is the only significant source of water in this desert region. The Nile flows from south to north, to its delta on the Mediterranean Sea. The ancient Egyptians did not realize that the flood was due to rains on the mountains to the south. It was seen as the annual coming of the god Hapi. The rains would swell the different tributaries and other rivers that joined to become the Nile River, generally regarded as the longest river in the world.

Woodstock
45 years later

August 14, 2014

The summer of 1969 was exhilarating for my family and friends. I was barefoot and pregnant with my second daughter, my family spending the summer at a bungalow in Monticello, NY in the Catskill mountains. Other friends were at neighboring bungalow colonies to get away from the city for two months.

Memorable Moments:

On July 20 Apollo 11 landed on the Moon ... and then there was the electrifying moments of the Woodstock Festival. Saturday, my husband and I went with another couple, Linda and Alan, to see what all the commotion was about and enjoy the music - being concert goers. We were amazed at the size of the audience and energies of the performers having never seen anything this extensive before. At the time, we didn't realize history was being made.

Did people smoke weed? Of course they did but we didn't. I've never done drugs and don't drink. Were people friendly? Yes. Were they and from all across the country? Yes. Were they "Hippies"? Many were. Were they pointed as young people are today? Of course! Were there sanitation issues? Yes. Food and water? Could have used more but we brought our own.

How awesome life would have been if we had today's technologies. Think of all the Instagrams I would have posted and Facebook posts I would have sent - about events as they happened. I would love to revisit Bethel, NY one day, but not this year. I'm not interested in revisiting the farm, but more about meeting people my age and seeing what has happened to them through the years. On occasion my age group visits Burning Man in Nevada, but it's too hot for me in the desert.

Woodstock Music & Art Fair

  Woodstock Google Videos

This year the 45th Anniversary aligns with the same days of the week as the original.

Woodstock Music & Art Fair (informally, Woodstock) was a music festival, billed as "An Aquarian Exposition", held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York. Thirty-two of the best-known musicians of the day appeared during the sometimes rainy weekend in front of nearly half a million concertgoers. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in popular music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll.

Woodstock 45th anniversary events set for weekend   The Times Herald-Record - August 14, 2014
Events are being held this weekend in the upstate New York town that hosted the original Woodstock festival 45 years ago. The activities range from a "Hippie Thanksgiving" being offered Thursday at a restaurant in the town of Bethel to a Friday night showing of the Academy Award-winning "Woodstock" documentary on the field where the three-day music festival was held. Some 400,000 people gathered on Max Yasgur's Sullivan County farm from Aug. 15-17, 1969, to hear such acts as The Who, the Grateful Dead, Santana and Jimi Hendrix. Jeryl Abramson owns Yasgur's Farm. She tells the Times Herald-Record of Middletown that she's welcoming visitors to her property to enjoy music, camping and other activities. The nearby Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is hosting the film showing to commemorate the 45th anniversary.

Woodstock celebration on tap Festival's 45th anniversary this weekend   Record Online - August 14, 2014
Hippies and partiers from all over the country, even from around the world, are making their way to the town that hosted the original Woodstock festival 45 years ago this weekend. They're trying to recapture the peace, love and musical spirit of the festival that packed this Sullivan County town with a crowd of nearly a half-million back in 1969.

CHANGE

We all change things in our lives all the time - including relationships. It is part of our evolutionary growth to make change and except that which no longer works. In metaphysics we learn that if something has to change, and you do not change it, it will change anyway. Some people find change easy while others have great difficulty. It all goes the one's emotional programming.

How to make positive changes in your life   CNN - August 12, 2014
Here are some easy tips on how to improve everything, from your dinner order to your career.

How to Change the Song in Your Head

You've been singing the theme to "The Love Boat" for hours now, and you're becoming unmoored. If a song is on an unfinished loop, "sing it through all the way, or listen to the entire song, to achieve completion," says James Kellaris, Ph.D., a professor of marketing at the University of Cincinnati, who studies why catchy tunes -- called "earworms" -- stick in your head.

"If you can't remember all the words or how it ends, rewrite the ending. Sometimes appending a Beethoven coda or even just 'Shave and a haircut, two bits' will do the trick."

If you can't banish it, replace it. That works for Ron Dante, one of the lead voices behind the insanely catchy Coke jingle "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing."

"I substitute a Beatles song, like 'Help!' or 'Let It Be' - both of which say something about what we need at that moment," he says. If the eraser tune gets lodged in your brain, too, he adds, "listen either to complex music, like Mozart, or unfamiliar music that lacks a hook, like New Age."

How to Change Your Hairdresser

The only thing worse than breaking down over a bad haircut is breaking up with your regular stylist. "The polite thing to do is to let him know you're leaving," says Sue Fox, author of "Etiquette for Dummies." If you don't want to call, write a note. And be specific. "Maybe the truth is you can never get in to see him, you need to go to someone less expensive, or you just want a change," Fox says. Whatever the reasons, don't fret too much. "We're tougher than people think," says Manhattan-based hairdresser Oscar Bond. "You're a paying customer -- you can do what you want."

Still, Los Angeles stylist Charles Dujic recommends leaving on good terms for practical reasons. "Often it's more of a break than a breakup," he says. "More times than not, clients who leave end up coming back." If they don't, maybe it's just as well. "Sometimes," says New York City hairdresser Todd Bush, "we're just as happy to take a break from a long-term client as you are to take a break from us."

How to Change Your Cell Phone Carrier

Yes, it's now possible to change cell-phone carriers without changing your number, but don't expect radical improvements. Most major American cellular companies offer similar rates and deals, says James Hood, president of ConsumerAffairs.com, which covers consumer fraud. Where they vary is in their coverage in certain areas.

"Seek out people who get good service -- on the street, in the mall -- and ask what company they're using," Hood suggests. Before switching, make sure your contract is up or you'll be hit with an early termination fee, which may be as much as a couple of hundred dollars, says Jennifer Walsh, a spokesperson for Sprint.

For a smooth transition, don't cancel your old account before your new one is activated. "Once you close it," Walsh warns, "your number goes back into a pool, and you can lose it." And don't trust the new company to cancel your old account for you. "Often," Hood says, "they say they'll take care of it, and they just don't."

How to Change Your Room Layout

If you want a new outlook, move some furniture. The first step is to create a new focal point, says interior designer Ron Renner, founder of Certified Interior Decorators International. Consider an armoire or a fireplace, and arrange chairs and side tables around it. Renner isn't a fan of rakish angles. "Putting couches on the diagonal wastes space," he says.

When placing furniture, Natasha Younts, CEO of the Designer Society of America, follows the "three-feet rule": "If you want to put a drink down on a coffee table, you shouldn't have to reach more than three feet from the couch," she says. "And a pass-through area should be at least three feet wide."

After you change a layout, observe how people use it. "We all flow toward the space that looks easiest and most appealing," Younts says. "If guests aren't entering the living room, maybe the couch is a barrier. If they're not using the path you created through the room, expand it to help direct them."

How to Change Your Sleep Schedule

If you're going to eat a balanced breakfast, go running, and save the world by 10 a.m., you really should wake up earlier. But don't try to change overnight. "Go to bed five minutes earlier each night and wake up five minutes earlier every day" until you reach your goal, says Timothy Monk, Ph.D., a professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, who is leading a NASA study to find the best way of shifting astronauts' sleep schedules.

If you're changing time zones, "mitigate jet lag before you travel," says Margaret Rappaport, a sleep-training specialist. If you're flying from San Francisco (Pacific time) to Boston (Eastern time), "sleep on Central time in the days before the flight," she says. Once in Beantown, immediately adopt the local schedule.

For a drastic change in routine -- say, a switch to the graveyard shift -- try to trick nature. "When you want to be awake, keep rooms bright," Monk says. "And minimize daylight exposure before sleep by wearing dark glasses outside and dimming lights inside."

How to Change Your Style

Somewhere between the fall of shoulder pads and the rise of low-cut jeans, you may have lost your flair. If so, shop for a style before shopping for clothes. "Go through magazines and tear out pictures of women whose looks you admire," says Laura Nannix, director of studio services for Barneys New York.

Once among the racks, begin with the item you'll wear most. For example, for a polished look, "start with fantastic fitted trousers in black or navy," says Nannix. If you're feeling drab, try a brightly colored blazer. And don't be shy about using a department store's personal shopper, whose services are usually free.

Coats and handbags can have a big impact, says Jeanne Yang, a fashion stylist in New York City and Los Angeles. "They're the first reflection of your personality that many people see," she says. As for your face, clip photos of women whose hair and makeup you like, then bring them to a salon. Even if a cut is wrong for your features, your stylist will see what you're aiming for.

How to Change Your Computer Password for the Better

It may bring a smile to your face to use FluffytheCat as a password, but you won't be smiling when it's been cracked faster than you can type it. Pets' names, car names, last names followed by 1, anything Trekkie, and the word password are particularly vulnerable. "Good passwords are a minimum of eight characters and contain numbers, symbols, or punctuation," says George Shaffer, the creator of Geodsoft.com, a website that offers comprehensive advice on passwords.

To make yours easy to remember, "don't use a password -- use a pass phrase," says Ralph Echemendia, lead instructor and researcher at the Fort Lauderdale-based Intense School, which trains technology professionals. Then replace some of the vowels with symbols: M@ry h@d@littlel@mb is good; 1'm@p00rm@n is better. Best? Passwords with letters and symbols that require you to use the "alt" "As of now," Echemendia says, "those make a password 99% uncrackable."

How to Change Your Food Order

It's been 15 minutes since you ordered the chicken, but, boy, does that salmon look good. Too late? "It's always worth asking," says Brian Johnson, general manager of Joe's Stone Crab in Miami. "But it is too late if the chef has started cooking something that can't be put back on the grill and won't be ordered by someone else soon -- like a broiled Maine lobster."

If you're still determined to switch, tell your waiter it's OK if you're served last. "The hardest part is when the change has to be expedited to keep up," says Tracey Spillane, partner and general manager at Spago Beverly Hills. If you want something else once your food has been served, "we'd prefer to hear that it wasn't what you expected and wasn't to your taste, as opposed to hearing it was the worst thing ever," Spillane says. "But we'll get you what you want, because we want you to be happy." Maurice Rouas, owner of Fleur de Lys, in San Francisco, adds, "Be mindful of how you say things. We always appreciate politeness."

How to Change Someone Else's Mind

The essential rule when trying to convert someone is: Don't -- at least, not at first. "Just listen," says Dennis Ross, former Middle East envoy and author of "The Missing Peace." "It shows respect and allows you to learn."

This approach applies whether the subject is peace between the Israelis and Palestinians or that orange plaid sofa your husband wants to buy. After listening, show that you get it. "Tell your husband you understand he loves the couch because it's big enough for the whole family to watch movies from," says Catherine Cardinal, a psychologist and the author of "A Cure for the Common Life." "If you're negative, he'll defend it more."

Next, nudge the other person to see your side. "I used to ask the Israelis what the Palestinians might accept, and vice versa," Ross says, "to make them more sensitive to each other's thinking." Then gently, imperceptibly, introduce a new outcome. "Everyone needs an explanation to tell others," Ross says, "and it's best if the other person thinks he came up with it."

How to Change Your Career

Doing what you love is more practical than you think. If you're trying to find your calling, "the most important factors to look at are your natural talents and your personality," says Nicholas Lore, director of the Rockport Institute, a career-coaching firm in Rockville, Maryland. Richard Bolles, author of "What Color Is Your Parachute?", suggests making two lists: one with your top-five skills, the other with your five favorite fields. Show your list around zealously. "You'll typically get many job suggestions," Bolles says.

For an intermediary shift, he says, "either change your title and keep the field, or keep your title and change the field." He cites an aspiring pilot with poor vision who ended up working for the airlines by making airplane seats. Anne Steiner, director of the Seattle office of the Johnson O'Connor Research Foundation, which conducts aptitude tests, says to "volunteer or get a part-time job to learn from people in the industry you're interested in." Soon you'll be one of them.
