Giovanni Schiaparelli was an award winning Italian astronomer and science historian. Schiaparelli peered through his telescope one evening in 1877 and discovered what he took to be the Red Planet's famous canals giving rise to waves of hypotheses, speculation, and folklore about the possibility of intelligent life on Mars, the Martians. As it turned out, the canals were an optical illusion, but current research suggests water once flowed on Mars. Among the most fervent supporters of the artificial-canal hypothesis was the American astronomer Percival Lowell, who spent much of his life trying to prove the existence of intelligent life on the red planet. After Lowell's death in 1916, astronomers developed a consensus against the canal hypothesis, but the popular concept of Martian canals excavated by intelligent Martians remained in the public mind for the first half of the 20th century, and inspired a corpus of works of classic science fiction.

What is Pope Francis Sensing?
Francis expects his papacy to be no more than five years CNN - March 14, 2015
Pope Francis, who succeeded a resigning pontiff exactly two years ago, told a Mexican television network Friday that he expects his pontificate will be brief. "Four or five years," he told Televisa. "I do not know, even two or three. Two have already passed. It is a somewhat vague sensation. Maybe it's like the psychology of the gambler who convinces himself he will lose, so he won't be disappointed and if he wins, is happy. I do not know." Francis, who was elected in March 2013 after Pope Benedict XVI stepped down.

A tropical cyclone killed at least six people in Vanuatu, UNICEF said Saturday, confirming first casualties from one of the most powerful storms ever to make landfall. Hardly a tree stood straight after Tropical Cyclone Pam bellowed across the Pacific island nation. Aid workers fear many more fatalities. The confirmed deaths came only from the capital, Port Vila.
Teenage Violence
Humans are programmed to be violent as history has shown. As a former High School teacher I understand teenage gang mentality. It hasn't changed and is not always defined by race. It stems from the same place that leads to radicalization of young people. t's about wanting to be excepted, coming from an abusive background, mental illness, and substance abuse. It's street mentality. It's bad-ass or just bad. With girls it's far more vicious than you can imagine.

Two more suspects held in McDonald's beating as prosecutors say Brooklyn attack was planned for months NY Daily News - March 14, 2015
Beat-down and then wheels up. The bra-baring ringleader of the vicious McDonald's attack was behind bars at Rikers Island held on $500,000 bond, as authorities grabbed a second teen suspect trying to flee the country on a plane bound for Jamaica. The 15-year-old suspect was apprehended in Atlanta just moments away from flying off to the Caribbean. Atlanta authorities had been alerted to the brute's travel plans and pulled her off the plane, officials said. Of the four other girls implicated in the brawl, two other girls were awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn Friday - and two others were still on the lam.

Violence and Racism in the US
Developing new habits, patterns, and ways of dealing with life, isn't as easy as it sounds in a programmed reality. Often there's collateral damage. This week featured the shooting of two police officers during a protest rally in Ferguson It all started August 9, 2014 when an 18-year-old black man, Michael Brown, was fatally shot by a white place officer, Darren Wilson. Will violence and fear take over the country? Are you in the head space that this will resolve soon or that things will grow worse in the months ahead?
Politics ... Too much drama, conspiracy and fruitless efforts of people to outwit the hologram. Politics and Monarchies are all staged. Think about all the copycat real-time and media venues - that have been created with that algorithm.
The 2016 US presidential race is going to create so much turmoil it's exhausting even projecting about it. As for me, I have read and studied too much about political systems, here and abroad, to comment constructively because they are all shrouded in secrecy. In truth none of what you and I believe is going to change the way things play out in 2016 and on ... if reality as we perceive it continues. The real issues will always be power which takes us to the economy and how we are going to pay for the enormous military expenses, climate changes, natural disasters and so forth that are rising faster than a graph depicting runaway deficit spending.
Hillary Clinton has been on the scene for decades, and fantasizes, "If I were president". As we know the Clinton administration was filled with secrecies, conspiracies, and lies - the Clintons always having had their own agenda. Could she really resolve the issues at play? No. No one can. Obama learned that the hard way and now look at who he has become.

Bottom of the 9th
This is my 9 year so I expect things to return for either review or closure. 2016 is the universal 9 year which should be interesting as we head down the road on the way home. Wednesday brought the return of two people to my life.
It started with musician, producer, and composer Keith Kemper, 44, who created the opening music for my TV series The Metaphysical Experience. Keith emailed, "I saw you on the History Channel and was wondering how you were doing - so this is a shout out to say hello." This lead to a reunion and time to catch up. Keith still lives in Brooklyn, not far from here in Borough Park, and went from Jewish to Born Again Christian. Many of his beliefs are recycled almost from ancient alien theory - gods and angels - duality stuff. There is one thing we agreed upon, the end is almost here no matter how life defines your beliefs and prophecies. He believes the date December 21, 2012 had to be wrong because it was not in the bible. Whatever it takes on the road to awareness >>>>
>>>> Let's move along to Randy Sinclair (think Sinclair family, Knights Templar, Freemasons, Rosslyn Chapel built by William Sinclair, etc). This takes us back to Temple Mount adventures and tonight's episode of Dig. Both storylines - fiction and nonfiction - are part of the journey and seem to highlight now. I sent Randy my phone number to catch up.
Hello Ellie,
I do hope maybe we can talk again. I am sorry; I got lost on the site; but was so happy to see that still going. If you remember me; it would have been around the year 2000 and it would have been about me and our bloodline. Alot has transpired since; and travels and studies have allowed me to go back to your site for the first time in years and I just felt this reconnection...
Always willing to talk more and regards

Ferguson police shot during protest BBC - March 12, 2015
Two US police officers have been shot in Ferguson, a Missouri town hit by riots over the killing of an unarmed black teenager last year. One officer was shot in the face and one in the shoulder, St Louis County police chief Jon Belmar said. Both suffered "very serious gunshot injuries" but were conscious, he said.
Last week ABC's "Scandal," starring Kerry Washington struck a nerve all across the country. It did so not with a new outrageous plot twist or a blistering monologue by "Papa Pope," played by Joe Morton, but though the simple adage of art imitating life. The episode causing the stir was titled The Lawn Chair. In this polarizing hour of "Scandal," a young man (Brandon) is shot and killed by a Washington DC Police officer and his father, Clarence, played by Courtney B. Vance, incites a police stand-off when he rushes to the crime scene and raises a shotgun refusing to leave his son's body until justice is served. Vance joined Roland Martin Tuesday on NewsOne Now via Skype to discuss last Thursday's episode of the ABC drama that sill has people talking today. (Watch the video above)

Fog
This morning, I awoke to the sounds of fog horns from ships coming and going. All sorts of metaphors about "fog" filled my mind as I put on the news and wondering if I should blog about us walking around in a fog. Been there. Did that. There on my screen was Al Roker reporting on the large number of states covered in fog ... so I got up and looked outside ...yup ... it was foggy. That was at 7:00am. Now, at 9:00am, the fog has lifted presenting a sunny day in the city. Sadly, fog was a factor in this accident.

The Eagle's Nest
Images Show Bald Eagles Protecting Nest Despite Being Covered in Snow Buzz 60 - March 10, 2015
A remote camera watching a bald eagle nest in Pennsylvania captured a heroic sight this week as two eagles braved a winter snow storm to keep their eggs safe and warm. The Hanover Eagle Cam run by the Pennsylvania Game Commission, showed the male and female eagles taking turns sitting on the nest even as the snow piled up to the point of almost burying them. Eagles use what is called a brood patch that develops during breeding to keep the eggs warm.
The Squeegee Job
Monday 6:30 pm
It's starting to feel like spring so time to clean the "winter" off my windows and sliding glass doors ... something I enjoy. After trying endless cleansers in the past, all of which streaked, this year I decided to try a new approach. I love to clean and do home repairs. I've laid tiles, wall paper, painted, electrical, plumbing, design, etc. - but those were the old days back in the house. I still have my old toolbox though. Some days the super comes to borrow my tools. I'm not old enough to give them away yet, and my children have their own.
Step 1 ...
Off I went to Home Depot where I bought an 18 inch squeegee - the widest they had - a box of thin disposal rubber gloves, and a package of two large really large yellow sponges. Now I was ready.
Step 2 ... Back Home ...
After putting on the rubber gloves - I used the water faucet to thoroughly wet one sponge - no soap, cleansers, or bucket of water. Out I walked onto the terrace carrying the sponge, the squeegee, and some paper towels. I started with the first door using one side of the sponge to wash it down then turning the sponge around and going over the door again. The sponge was wet just enough so the water wouldn't drip down my sleeve.
Step 3 ...
I moved the squeegee over the door from top to bottom three times to remove the water. As this was my first time with a squeegee, it was fun.
Step 4 ...
I used the paper towels over a few remaining wet spots and corners where the dirt hadn't been removed and voila clean and fresh like new - no streaks.
Step 5 ..
I returned inside to rinse the sponge off then continue on to the next door and then the windows - each time repeating this pattern. The sponge should be kept clean and rinsed between windows and/or doors.
Step 6 ...
When finished I disposed of the gloves and sponge, then put the squeegee away. All done.
While out on the terrace, wearing jeans and a sweat shirt (no jacket). It was nice to feel the sun and listen to people laughing on the street below. Someone shouted hello as I waved to a neighbor in the park. Glad the winter is coming to a close. If I had a garden I might start planting ... but that's okay ... been there ... did that with my 3 daughters.
As I sit here now, glancing out of my clean windows, all I see is a gorgeous pink sunset over the Verrazano Bridge. These are the things that makes me happy.

Thyroid
Sluggish, tired, gaining weight? There are many reason this could be happening as changes are always going on in your body. One of explanations for the way you feel could relate to your thyroid.
It is important to understand the nature of the thyroid gland in maintaining good health. Many people suffer from thyroid problems that are often misdiagnosed: fatigue and weight gain - all part of the autoimmune cycle and linked with depression. Each year more and more clients report thyroid problems some dealing with Hashimoto's thyroiditis - an autoimmune disease in which the thyroid gland is attacked by a variety of cell- and antibody-mediated immune processes, causing primary hypothyroidism. It was the first disease to be recognized as an autoimmune disease. It was first described by the Japanese specialist Hakaru Hashimoto in a paper published in Germany in 1912.
Researchers report new gene associated with thyroid levels PhysOrg - March 9, 2015
Thyroid hormones have important and diverse roles in human health and regulate metabolic rate. Thyroid disease is common (affecting 5-10 per cent of the population) and synthetic thyroid hormones are one of the commonest drug therapies prescribed worldwide. A new study, published in Nature Communications involving University of Bristol academics, reports a new gene called SYN2 associated with thyroid levels. Researchers found the SYN2 gene plays an important role in the control of thyroid stimulating hormone. The study also reports a separate, rare, genetic variant present in only four individuals per 1,000 people that can cause thyroxine levels in the blood to be elevated. Although thyroid hormones are essential for childhood development and maintaining adult health, the genetic control of these important hormones is poorly understood. Data collected from around 4,000 people in the UK and cohorts in Europe and Australia enabled scientists to discover genes and mechanisms affecting the thyroid.
This year International Women's Day takes me the speech actress Patricia Arquette gave when receiving an Oscar for Best Actress In A Supporting Role last month - it was all about wage equality for women in the workplace. She currently stars in CSI Cyber which is totally the way I feel crime solving should be. It's what drew me to Person of Interest and other shows of that kind. Our reality - in one form or another - is a cyber experience.

Civil Rights in the US
At a time when we should be united as a nation to face terrorist threats ... we find ... memories and the continuation of the violation of civil rights which will grow now that the weather is no longer a priority. The 19th century Civil War ... the 20th century civil rights movements ... the 21st century ... How much has evolved?
Time affects each of us differently in so far as how we age, process its movements, are punctual, manipulate time in the grids, understand space-time, rips in time, time loops, linear vs non-linear time, and understand that it will soon cease to exist. Carpe diem. Reality is just One Day
Daylight Saving Time was first mentioned by Benjamin Franklin in a letter to the editors of the Journal of Paris. Ben also designed the first US coin. On one side he placed the word Fugio beside a sundial.Fugio in Latin means I Fly, and in conjunction with the sundial it implies "Time Flies" - Tempus Fugit. With the sun above the sundial, the effect of the design is rather artistic and coveys one of Franklin's favorite aphorisms. Carpe Diem "Seize the Day"

50th anniversary of the historic Civil Rights march in Selma, Alabama, on March 7, 1965, known as "Bloody Sunday." NBC - March 7, 2015
When thousands gather this weekend in Selma, Alabama, to mark the 50th anniversary of "Bloody Sunday," some will likely conclude that the town that changed America has not seemed to make much progress of its own. The majority of registered voters in Selma are now black - along with most of the city, whites having fled in the decades since their African-American neighbors gained access to the ballot box. More than half the businesses in Selma are black-owned. But Selma is a poor city in one of the poorest states in the country. The typical resident earns about half the state's median income of $43,000, and over 40 percent of its citizens live below the poverty line, more than twice the state average. According to the most recent data, 10 percent of Selma residents are unemployed - one of the highest rates in Alabama - compared to six percent statewide.
