Mercury Retrograde - (June 7 to July 1) - Repetitions and Delays - could effect the outcome of many things including Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals (the Kings could win again today) and the Belmont Stakes (California Chrome will make history by winning his third race in a row in a bid for the Triple Crown). California Chrome runs with the swiftness of Mercury the Messenger himself. I bet $50 on him. I won't win much but it's the thrill of it all. Contenders
Last night - just as the Friday night prior - Seniors from another local High School (Fort Hamilton) met in the park outside to take photos on a "picture perfect night", before heading off to their prom. The park and streets were overrun with formally dressed students, their parents and friends, teachers, even the press, limos and buses, police cars though there were no issues. As I taught at Fort Hamilton after moving here, I enjoyed the moment.
Most interesting to me: 3 Muslim teenage girls, dressed up in gowns like the rest of friends, their heads covered with sheer matching fabric, wearing make-up, having no dates, not allowed to dance with boys, but full of life and fun as they took pictures along with the other soon-to-be graduates.
Funny moments: watching 18 year old girls navigate on 6 inch heels and girls in strapless gowns yanking them up to cover their boobs. As always the girls looked gorgeous and nervous.
Out of place moment: one teenage boy smoking a cigarette.
