The sun is shining today as the east coast continues its recovery from last week's earthquake and Hurricane Irene. Many people will come away different after one or both experiences, while others will wait for reality to go back to the way it was. The city is quiet as mass transportation slowly resumes, allowing some people to go back to work. The U.S. stock market will open, with lower volume expected. For others, it's an extra day off to catch up on .... whatever. The energies are calm as August ends and September rolls in. This week we head into Labor Day Weekend and the end of the summer season ... at last.

Burning Man is a week-long annual event held in the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada. The event starts on the Monday before, and ends on the day of the American Labor Day holiday. It takes its name from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy on Saturday evening. The event is described by many participants as an experiment in community, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance. In 2011 the theme is "Rites of Passage".
