Explosion in East Harlem

1:00pm update: My daughter Nikki, was stuck on a train for 30 minutes, that was heading into the Harlem station, when Metro North shut down. She finally arrived at work safely after taking a cab to midtown Manhattan. Metro North brings thousands of people to and from the city every day. They say the cause was not a gas leak, which is what we originally concluded.

A building collapsed in East Harlem on Wednesday morning and the authorities said they were responding to reports of people trapped in the rubble, according to the authorities. The cause of the collapse was unclear and the authorities could not confirm reports of any injuries. Metro-North service was suspended, officials said, since debris from the building landed on the elevated train tracks on 116th Street and Park Avenue.
