A Month of Farewells

Parting is one of the hardest things humans experience, especially in leaving something that is safe, meaningful, their dream, and the opportunity to be part of history and make a difference. Over the past weeks, we've watched a lot of people who work in DC say goodbye. Some will retire, while others will move on to other jobs, taking their memories with them.

Tuesday night, President Obama gave an emotionally moving farewell address to the nation in his home town Chicago. Like anyone else leaving a job after eight years, he is proud of many of his accomplishments and have regrets about things that were not fixed. "By almost every measure, America is a better, stronger place" than it was eight years ago when he took office, he told thousands of supporters.

He took the high road when looking at what's to come under the Trump administration, as many in the audience booed and shuttered at the very thought of Trump as President. Obama also warned "democracy is threatened whenever we take it for granted". He implored Americans of all backgrounds to consider things from each other's point of view. This is something that is important when judging others, with an understanding that it's the way they are programmed. Obama's loving remarks directed to Michelle, and all that she has done over the past eight years, brought a tear. Noticeably missing was his daughter Sasha, who I read was in Washington DC taking exams.

I respect President Obama in his efforts to help the country, but I am far more anxious to see what comes next.

Trump is about to become the 45th President of the U.S. 4+5=9 - Endings

It's another wild day in U.S. politics. Confirmation hearings continue among other political dramas. At 11:00 EST Trump is scheduled to hold his first formal news conference since July. I've never been political - never trusted politicians with a few exceptions - and only see trouble ahead though I don't experience fear. I would've preferred a "soft ending" to reality, but that is definitely not the way it was programmed or what's going to happen.

Full Moon 22° Cancer -- Full Wolf Moon

The lessons wolf teaches are not always easy to swallow, but nevertheless necessary. Wolf is a symbol of guardianship, ritual, loyalty, and spirit. Wolf has the ability to make quick and firm emotional attachments, and often need to trust their own instincts. Thus they teach us to do the same, to trust our hearts and minds, and have control over our own lives. Wolf Spirit Animal
