Happy 12th Birthday, Google   Yahoo - September 27, 2010

It's Google's 12th birthday today, and Google's regular logo is replaced by

an image of a cake, created by the American painter Wayne Thiebaud.

After Crystalinks debuted on August 25, 1995, it slowly grew in the number of unique visitors who would stop by each day. In 1997, Crystalinks became an LLC, and a brand named Crystalinks.com. The follow year something miraculous happened ... Google found me. It was love at first sight. From that day forth we would grow and continue together as 'works in progress' (a metaphor for how all good relationships should develop). Google has brought Crystalinks into the world, creating amazing contacts, bringing revenue, and much more. So today I say ... "Happy birthday Google. The best is yet to come."

Branding

Since the recession began, I have read people whose careers revolve around branding the identity of a specific product, service, or business. Many work as consultants creating brands for companies and using SEO to help those businesses grow. I guess this falls under the heading of marketing, advertising and sales, but it seems to work well when done professionally and allows one to be creative. (The shift in the grid is towards creative jobs).

A brand can take many forms, including a name, sign, symbol, color combination or slogan. A legally protected brand name is called a trademark. The word brand has continued to evolve to encompass identity - it affects the personality of a product, company or service. It's not about the hard sell, but about credibility and getting yourself out as an expert in an industry. Crystalinks brand changed this month to make it faster and more efficient.
