The Microbiome
Human as Spaceship
APOD - August 15, 2016Explanation: You are a spaceship soaring through the universe. So is your dog. We all carry with us trillions of microorganisms as we go through life. These multitudes of bacteria, fungi, and archaea have different DNA than you. Collectively called your microbiome, your shipmates outnumber your own cells. Your crew members form communities, help digest food, engage in battles against intruders, and sometimes commute on a liquid superhighway from one end of your body to the other. Much of what your microbiome does, however, remains unknown. You are the captain, but being nice to your crew may allow you to explore more of your local cosmos.

Mysterious 'Wow!' Signal From Space Deciphered, Says Astronomer Epoch Times - January 14, 2016
For almost 40 years, astronomers have wondered whether an anomalous 72-second radio signal from space may have been an attempt by extraterrestrials to contact us. Was the sound from comet? In 2017 and 2018 when the same comets again enter the same region of space, an analysis of their hydrogen signals could confirm a new theory.
"Wow Signal" was a strong, narrowband radio signal detected by Dr. Jerry R. Ehman on August 15, 1977 while working on a SETI project at the Big Ear radio telescope of the Ohio State University. The signal bore expected hallmarks of potential non-terrestrial and non-solar system origin. It lasted for 72 seconds, the full duration Big Ear observed it, and has not been detected again, or not reported to the public. It has been the focus of attention in the mainstream media when talking about SETI results. Amazed at how closely the signal matched the expected signature of an interstellar signal in the antenna used, Ehman circled the signal on the computer printout and wrote the comment "Wow!" on its side. This comment became the name of the signal. On the 35th anniversary of the Wow! signal, Arecibo Observatory beamed a response from humanity, containing 10,000 Twitter messages, in the direction from which the signal originated.
Was the Wow Signal our first detection of extraterrestrials? It might have been, but no scientist would make such a claim. Scientific experiment is inherently skeptical. This isn't just a sour attitude; it's the only way to avoid routinely fooling yourself. Until and unless the cosmic beep measured in Ohio is found, the Wow Signal will remain a What Signal.
The Wow Signal came from the direction of Sagittarius.

The annual flooding cycle of the Nile goes back to ancient times. It is celebrated by Egyptians beginning August 15 lasting two weeks, known as Wafaa El-Nil. Were it not for the Nile River, Egyptian civilization could not have developed, as it is the only significant source of water in this desert region. Ancient Egyptians believed that the Nile flooded every year because of Isis's tears of sorrow for her dead husband, Osiris. The Nile flows from south to north, to its delta on the Mediterranean Sea. The ancient Egyptians did not realize that the flood was due to rains on the mountains to the south. It was seen as the annual coming of the god Hapi. The rains would swell the different tributaries and other rivers that joined to become the Nile River, generally regarded as the longest river in the world.

Woodstock Music & Art Fair (informally, Woodstock) was a music festival, billed as "An Aquarian Exposition", held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York. Thirty-two of the best-known musicians of the day appeared during the sometimes rainy weekend in front of nearly half a million concertgoers. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in popular music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll.
Last week I was interviewed for a documentary about my experiences the day I was there.
