Slow-moving nor'easter kills 5, knocks out power in several states
CNN - March 3, 2018
The worst is over in Brooklyn. Other places affected by Winter Storm Riley were not as lucky as death and destruction was reported along coastal areas. I watched hurricane force winds and sideways rain, sleet, and snow through most of Friday.
Traffic outside crept along for hours as emergency vehicles tried to navigate streets and highways. You have to wonder why people blow their horns when it's obvious there is nowhere to go. I actually Googled traffic in Brooklyn on 4th Avenue and parallel streets rather than use the WAZE App on my iPad which gave me a larger view of the traffic situation. Not good anywhere. Perhaps the slow moving traffic resulted in less accidents that would have happened over icy highways and streets.
As with most storms, downed trees caused power outages and transportation was effected as flights and trains were canceled. If you still don't believe that climate change and natural disasters will affect your life at some point you are wrong. Keep cash with you - if power grids are affected you may not be able to use a credit card. Fill your car with gas at all times. In the event of a storm keep water and something to eat with you, etc. Always be prepared. Fill your car with gas at all times.
