and Polar Vortex

July 12, 2014

Full Moon 20° Capricorn

This Supermoon will definitely affect human and planetary behavior. Think back to the New Moon in Capricorn when you were making your New Year's Resolutions or just setting goals for 2014. Halfway through, how have things turned out?

Here Is Why You'll Sleep 20 Minutes Less On July 12th
TIME - July 11, 2014

When the moon is full, we sleep less .. at least that was the common belief without any real science to back it up. Now Swedish researchers have not only quantified it, but they also found a correlation between the lunar cycle and our sleep duration.

Three Supermoons in a Row   NASA - July 10, 2014

In June of last year, a full Moon made headlines. The news media called it a supermoon because it was 14% bigger and 30% brighter than other full Moons of 2013. Around the world, people went outside to marvel at its luminosity. If you thought one supermoon was bright, how about three? The full Moons of summer 2014 - July 12th, August 10th, and Sept. 9th - will all be supermoons.

Spotty Sunrise over Brisbane   NASA - July 11, 2014

In this composite cityscape, dawn's first colors backdrop the lights along Brisbane's skyline at the southeastern corner of Queensland, Australia, planet Earth. Using a solar filter, additional exposures made every 3.5 minutes follow the winter sunrise on July 8 as planet-sized sunspots cross the visible solar disk. The sunspots mark solar active regions with convoluted magnetic fields. Even as the maximum in the solar activity cycle begins to fade, the active regions produce intense solar flares and eruptions launching coronal mass ejections (CMEs), enormous clouds of energetic particles, into our fair solar system.

Lovers of hot weather ... don't be mad at me but I hate heat and humidity ... Here comes the return of the "polar vortex" as some people are calling it. Bring it!

10 Cities On Track For A Cool Summer As Cold Blast Approaches   Weather.com - July 10, 2014
It seems like many places can't shake the cool temperatures. After a harsh winter, the summer heat just can't seem to take hold for long. Some of these locations saw a cool summer last year and current indications are this could be repeated this year A deep upper-level trough will dig into the Great Lakes region from Canada next week, which will bring another round of cool temperatures. This trough is very strong for mid July, in the heart of summer. Record cold temperatures are likely.

Some cities have yet to hit 90 degrees this year and it looks like the 90-degree mark won't be seen anytime soon for those cities. Next week, morning temperatures will be in the 50s for many in the Midwest, while a few lucky locations will see temperatures dip into the 40s! It really won't feel like July, as there won't be a hint of muggy air for much of the Midwest and East. Meanwhile, the heat will stay in the West, with no real heat waves in sight for the Midwest or Northeast. So enjoy the cool and comfortable conditions for now

Weather affects you more than realized. Maintaining body temperature to its norm, promotes the best health.

The Malibu Anomaly

The Truth Behind The Malibu Underwater 'Alien Base'   Huffington Post - June 19, 2014
A little more than 6 miles off the coast of Point Dume in Malibu, California, an unusual-looking structure sits on the sea bed floor. Based on images obtained on Google Earth, the oval-shaped object has a huge flat top and what appear to be pillars or columns that seem to reveal the entrance to a darker, inner place. The anomaly -- for the moment, we'll call it that -- is approximately 2,000 feet below the surface of the water, measuring nearly 3 miles wide. What exactly is this thing? According to the website of a California-based radio program, Fade to Black, this may be the Holy Grail of UFO/USO [unidentified submerged objects]" that researchers have been looking for over the last 40 years.
