It's a new week, a new month, a new year, and for many, new energies. It all begins Monday as people return to school and work, many hoping things will get better in 2015. Whatever topics are on the table, we are programmed with hope at the beginning of each new year.
There are two funerals of significance in the city this week. Today in neighboring Bensonhurst, thousands of police officers will once again gather for the funeral of one of their own - slain NYPD officer Wenjian Liu. Family members from as far away as China have been flown here free of charge for the funeral. Unlike the funeral of Rafael Ramos, last Saturday, today it's raining. Tuesday is the funeral of former NY governor Mario Cuomo. Email from Dean: Saturday night, I had dinner with a fireman friend who will be attending the funeral of Wenjian Liu.
