Sunday

For those who celebrate - tonight at Sundown starts the Jewish holiday Simchat Torah rounding off a serious of fall holidays. Enjoy.

With all of the craziness going on in Afghanistan - the TV series "Homeland" returns tonight on Showtime.

Today is about football for those of us who love the sport. Locally, both the Jets and Giants are playing.

No rain today allowing for a chilly (60s) and fun time at the Third Avenue Street Festival here in Bay Ridge. Do you remember my pics from 2014 when the temperatures were in the 90s?

About Hurricane Joaquin ... this morning the weather channel reported Conditions on Bermuda Beginning to Deteriorate. When I looked at the map below ... probably because they mentioned the word Bermuda ... my attention was drawn to the Sargasso Sea which is part of the Bermuda Triangle and all of those adventures about missing ships, aircraft and alleged underwater alien bases. Okay ... that may be a bit of a stretch but the movement of this and other climate patterns and natural disasters always leaves me wondering ... aliens ... the hologram? There are scientific reasons why hurricanes change course - but is there something we're missing? We really need to know the truth about alien influences on the planet - no matter how bad it is.

Logs from Christopher Columbus - just before he discovered America - link him to a UFO sighting in the Sargasso Sea. Columbus Day is next week. His birthday is October 31 - Halloween.

Scores of bodies found after Guatemala landslide; hundreds may be missing   CNN - October 4, 2015
The gangly arms of four backhoes dug through a mound of sandy soil that had buried many of the residents of El Cambray alive in a landslide. Carefully, the diggers turned up sheet metal roofs, broken walls and the bodies of people trapped in the dirt bulging over much of the Guatemalan village.

France floods: Several dead on Riviera after storms   BBC - October 4, 2015
Violent storms and flooding have hit south-eastern France, killing at least 16 people with three more missing, officials say.

Wildfires out west are slowly coming under control. It's not just the fire but the smoke and its aftermath creating health and other issues. I remember how sick people were here in the city after 9/11. Smoke is toxic. After the wildfires end we will see mountain slopes erode resulting in mud slides and floods destroying roads and more. This is all part of the cascading consequences of drought, wildfires and record breaking summer heat that return again next year.

Transformation of wildfires presents new challenges   Sacramento Bee - October 4, 2015

A strong El Nino pattern is here lasting through winter and spring. El Nino is an anomalous, yet periodic, warming of the central and eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean. For reasons still not well understood, every two to seven years, this patch of ocean warms for six to 18 months. This warming of equatorial Pacific water influences the atmospheric pattern from the western Pacific Ocean, including Australia and Indonesia, to North and South America, the Atlantic Ocean, even parts of Europe and Africa.

It reminds me of another pattern that comes out of the Pacific after powerful Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) from the sun hit Earth. They affect electromagnetic grids, planetary magnetics, sparking geomagnetic storms, GPS, satellite communications, shifting ocean and jet stream currents in the Pacific Ring of Fire -> create unusual and extreme global weather patterns and unstoppable Earth changes, and affect the behavior patterns of all sentient life forms. The only positive is the stunning auroras. All you can do it just sit back and pay attention ... to everything.
