Fat Tuesday

February 28, 2017

Mardi Gras -- Google News

The morning news opened with a story from Bourbon Street in New Orleans showing people celebrating through the night and into this morning. Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is the last day of the Carnival season and globally, it's known as one of the most over-the-top days to party. In the U.S., New Orleans is the center of the all-you-can-eat, drink and party action. But there are plenty of parades, festivals and fun times to be had across the country for those who love to get their groove on before Ash Wednesday or Lent.

Known as the birthplace of Mardi Gras, Mobile, Alabama has some of the country's most colorful celebrations. The streets of downtown Mobile are filled with live marching bands, colored floats and crowds of parade goers. The parades run from February 10-28. Read more

The Daily Take

Tuesday - The biggest creator of Fake News is the guy who tweets about it. His first address to Congress is tonight - I'll be asleep. Stephen Colbert is live tonight. Last night, his guest was Jon Stewart who once again expressed his regrets about giving up his talk show before the Trump Era.

Monday - With everything coming to a head, I really don't have the patience to follow the daily take on political dramas. And so I go about my day finding things to blog about that don't have to do with Trump ... if possible. I trust disclosure happens before he gets impeached. At that time there will be others coming forward with definitive proof of our connections to aliens and the rest, another tangled web filled with discrepancies, diversions, and distractions. Much of the dissemination of this information will be brought forth by leaders from other countries including Russia, China, Mexico, Japan, UK, more.

What if the US Power Grid Was Down?

I think about this a lot. How would we survive without our power/tech if only for a day or two?

Let's say terrorists don't take it down but a natural disaster does. This is part of a long list of events at the very end.

The US electricity grid is a complex system crucial to life and commerce. It has more than 7,000 plants and has been vulnerable physically for decades. We are just beginning to understand a new threat to the grid's cybersecurity. Its computerized control could be abused by attackers who get into the systems. Cyberattacks can penetrate the electricity grid, shutting down power to people. It happened in Ukraine in 2015 and in 2016, and it could happen in the US.
