Happy Father's Day

June 19, 2016

I'm so happy to spend the day with extended family in New Jersey.

Wishing you and your family a great day.

Winners and Losers

New champions will be crowned in basketball and golf by the end of the day. Another comeback win by the Cleveland Cavaliers over the Golden State Warriors forced the N.B.A. finals into Game 7 (8 p.m. Eastern, ABC). The defending U.S. Open champion, Jordan Spieth, struggled to regain lost ground in a tournament thrown out of order by early rain delays. In soccer, the U.S. team made it to the semifinals of the Copa America. Olympic officials backed a doping-related ban on Russian track and field athletes competing in the Rio Games.

Summer Solstice -- Summer Solstice at Stonehenge -- Astronomical Observatories

Sun in Cancer

Happy Birthday to the Crystalinks readers born in Cancer.

Cancer is a cardinal water sign ruled by the Moon.

From the New York Times Sunday: "We call it the summer solstice when the Earth begins to swing back on its trunnions and the longest day of the year is at hand and daylight begins its creeping abbreviation once more." That's from a short column, with no byline, from their newspaper of June 20, 1954. This year, the solstice begins Monday at 6:34 p.m. Eastern. Have a great summer!
