Tomorrow, Friday July 1, Canadians celebrate Canada Day. Quick glimpse at the news Wednesday -- the Canadian House of Commons featured Obama who grappled with the cascade of chaotic issues -- from terrorism in Orlando and Istanbul to Brexit and what he called an "increasingly strained" international order that is "driven by old divisions and fresh hatreds." He talked about the strong alliance between the US and Canada. Applause. Standing ovation. Named "The Three Amigos Summit" - the other three presidents included Justin Trudeau (Canada) and Enrique Pena Nieto (Mexico).
The world worries about the ramifications of the next US president especially if it's Trump - but for today many people in the US are getting into holiday weekend headspace - planning celebrations, vacations, or just getting away for a few days from the dramas and rhetoric that pervade our daily lives - personal or global. Did you notice that things are more dysfunctional now than ever?
Maybe we should talk about the upcoming Olympics ... Let's see ... Today, Michael Phelps celebrates his 31st birthday. Yesterday, he qualified for his fifth Olympics setting a U.S. record ... but are things cool in Rio? Not in any sense of the word...
