This Weekend

My weekend continues with clients ... topped off with Football and the Golden Globe Awards ... oh wait ... I forgot Powerball which has many believing they will win something if not the $800 million which could go higher by the time the drawing is held in Orlando, Florida tonight. Yes, I bought a ticket. Just like the athletes and stars of TV and film ... one can dream.

My family in NJ are Pittsburgh Steelers fans, so tonight we gather to watch them play the Cincinnati Bengals heading into the AFC wild-card round with a backup quarterback hoping to end one of the longest postseason droughts in NFL history. The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to try to stop him with a defense that might be best described as, well, weird. Read more ...

About the Golden Globes ... how does one pick the winners with all that talent and amazing performances. I'm not a fan of Ricky Gervais as host as I don't believe insulting people while intoxicated - or not - is in good taste. Some people can handle his sense of humor while I find it offensive. This season I also find I'm not into award shows as in the past. I know what you're thinking ... you never were. There are better shows on TV Sunday night so I plan to record the awards and watch the highlights as time perhaps or Monday morning. It's interesting how the energies of something attract you at times, and not at others. "The Good Wife" resumes as Peter Florrick (Chris Noth), Alicia's husband on the show, campaigns for President and takes the family with him.

I've been trying to find different articles for my Ezine blog - not recycled stories - but that isn't easy. Political rhetoric remains pretty much the same. Trump bashing everybody reminds me a little of Ricky Gervais and it gets old. What Trump should go after with Bill Clinton is not his legendary sexual escapades but his criminal activities. I still think Bernie Sanders is the best choice for the Democrats even at his tender age ... hey ... I'll be 73 next month. Okay ... I know it will be Hillary but I don't have to approve this message.

At the end of the day if you watch law enforcement shows, or read conspiracy theories, what we are looking for is someone who has the power to change the system for the better. We know the old ways have never worked. We want someone of power who does not have to exchange favors to get the job done. You know how the game works ... one person helps another ... becomes indebted to them and so on and so on. That has always been the nature of the program. This has to change. Donald Trump has the desire, energy, and ability to do it ... but his arrogance and ego can get us into deep s**t. He represents someone who will not play political games. He actually is the best choice for Republican candidate so where does that leave us and the rest of the world?... hoping he can be an affective leader in a corrupt world.

How about this for an idea?
Texas Governor Wants To Amend The Constitution So States Can Ignore The Federal Government   Huffington Post - January 8, 2016
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Friday proposed a series of amendments to the U.S. constitution that would permit states to override the Supreme Court and ignore federal laws. One of the proposed measures would allow a two-thirds majority of the states to override federal regulations, while another sets the same threshold for overturning decisions by the Supreme Court. The governor also wants to change the Constitution to block Congress from "regulating activity that occurs wholly within one state," and to require a supermajority of seven Supreme Court votes before a "democratically enacted law" can be overturned.

Speaking of corruption, Joaquin Guzman, El Chapo, was recaptured Friday returning to the prison he escaped from ... a Mercury Retrograde moment of justice. Does Mercury Retrograde imply he will escape again ... the answer is no. Will someone do a film about the story of his life ... probably ... but it will never be an award winner.
